...for the most part, I'm a fan and think it's easily the best of the Stadium Series jerseys I've seen. Very much of a modern feel while keeping with some of the traditional staples. Very reminiscent of the white Lady Liberty jersey, but also has a touch of the style used in past Team USA Olympic hockey uniforms.
...as I mentioned earlier, I'm very happy to see the "NEW YORK"on the front. Not a fan of another logo style jersey similar to what we saw for the Winter Classic. The Rangers are about celebrating the team's history and for almost all of their tenure in the NHL they've had lettering, not a logo, on the front of the jersey. I also feel the chrome color, which I'm assuming the NHL made mandatory on the these Stadium Series jerseys, fits in nicely with the red, white and blue color scheme. Also glad to see them keep the shoulder piping which is a hallmark of the Rangers white jersey.
...as far as dislikes. Not a fan at all of the blue that goes from the armpit to the bottom of the jersey. Gives it a practice jersey feel. And while I like the color scheme of the arm striping, I don't like that it's on an angle. I like the traditional look the Rangers current jersey has.
Best part about the unveiling of the jersey was the video which was very creative...
Congrats, Rangers, You took the Columbus Blue Jackets uniform, smashed it together with the Wolf Pack uniform and called it creative. Suck it.
It's times like this I actually begrudgingly admire the Devils GM Lou Lamoriello. He HATES alternative jerseys, and HATES his team wearing anything other than black and red. Now .. I hate the devils just as much as the next guy, but you have to admire the sweater conservatism of that organization. They only went vintage third jersey when forced, and with the stadium series, expect minimal change from their normal jersey. they might just wind up putting the chrome patch on the shoulder and not make any other changes. I hate them , but admire their F You attitude toward the league pressuring them into new designs.
They are a glorified wolfpack jersey but they are much nicer than I had thought. I would even buy one! Really nice!!!
Not crazy about it saying "New York" even though I love their dark blue and cream third jersey. There are two New York teams playing in the Stadium Series and it's kinda dumb that's all they could come up with.
Honestly there isn't much to do with Ranger jersey design concepts. The name is kinda lame, I mean what is a "Ranger" anyway? — there is no leeway with taking new angles unless you incorporate something from the city, like the statue of liberty or water tower.
That said I like that all the new jerseys are more forward thinking, after all this isn't the heritage class so no need to go all retro. I'm betting the chrome is pretty sharp in person. Maybe a Liberty head on the shoulders or somewhere a pant leg would be interesting, just as the islanders added their logo to the hockey pants.
Hey we need a new jersey for the stadium series.
Cool. Just use the Wolfpack jersey but make it say New York instead.
It's not terrible, but it nothing anyone should be spending hard earned money on. Good "throw away" design. Glad they didn't waste any time on an NHL money grab. $235 for adults? Are you kidding me? Does that come with a $50 gift card like the tickets to the games??
I hope the NHL stores have piles of these laying around in February!
Great! again after sending our two "Grit" players down I see room on this jersey to stitch a big VAGINA on the front and back!
@TheNYRBlog it's the wolfpack sweater
@TheNYRBlog What is "a modern feel" mean when describing hockey gear? Plastic replaced chrome in cars 20 or so years ago (unfortunately).
@TheNYRBlog I guess they figured if they play like the wolf pack they might as well look like them too
who the f**k cares what the jerseys look like !!! let's get some passion, desire and will to win some g*d damn hockey games. it seems to me that the almighty $$$ is all anyone seems to care about, whether it be owners or players. this tells me also that all they want from us is to buy their $200 stadium series jerseys and the rest of their overpriced concessions and the hell with everything else, including most of all, we as fans !!!!! the only thing the center of the jersey should say is as an organization "WE EFFIN SUCK".
Reminds me of the white liberty jerseys, which was probably my favorite sports jersey of all time. I like it.
I know it's not exactly the Ranger's fault for the terrible template or the design, but those blue armpit/side stripes that bleed into the bottom stripe are just terrible. It reminds me of the Hartford Wolfpack jersey and also the Buffalo 3rd jersey. Lucky for us, the jersey isn't two-toned but what a design gaffe there. The solid blue stripe at the bottom also just makes the jersey look unfinished (in my opinion at least).
@TheNYRBlog those are the coolest wolf pack jerseys I've ever seen
Looks like wolfpack jersey. They are playing like a minor league team so they may as well look like one
@TheNYRBlog wish it had pinstripes.
A lot better than I thought... I thought they'd just do a giant rangers shield in the center, but doing the "New York" in the regular rangers font instead of the heritage jersey font is kind of a nod to the 80's jersey with the color scheme of the 1998 liberty white jersey
@IhaveawaiteratMSG Well, you are wrong because they are not going to be just wearing their traditional red and black. They are wearing those ugly green colored Jerseys for the Stadium Series. It is not that Lou despises 3rd Jerseys, its just that The Devils organization can't come up with anything creative.
where are they $235?
@upstate tom Just reported that price is $235 for adults and 160 for youth (with players name and # on back). Ridiculous.
@mrpopadapolis Also very reminiscent of white Lady Liberty jerseys.
I checked NHL.com and they weren't there yet. But I saw somewhere that all the MSG Stores will have them in stock starting tonight, and I'm sure the NHL Store near Rockefeller Center will have them stocked too, followed by sportsauthority, dicks, etc, and then eventually Marshalls and TJ Maxx...
