Up to 21% Below Face Value on Tix vs. Canucks

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

nyrtixsJust a heads-up to anyone interested in going to the Rangers/Canucks game at MSG tomorrow, according to TiqIQ there are tickets available for up to 21% below face value.

The ticket program TiqIQ that I have a widget for on the right hand side has found these tickets at StubHub, Ebay and other ticketing sites.

I'm also seeing fans getting ridiculously low prices through EBay auctions. A word of caution on the EBay auctions, please make sure you research the seller. There are a lot of scam artists out there and the last thing you guys need is to be taken for a ride.

Another incentive to purchasing tickets for the game is that I'll be there tomorrow night. Section 420 baby!!!

Frolov = Biggest Disappointment; Hank = MVP

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

frolovGreg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy looks at the mid-season disappointments for each team...

New York Rangers: Alex Frolov, LW. His season has ended thanks to an ACL tear and other ailments, but not before he stunk up the joint to the tune of 7 goals in 43 games. He complained about his ice time and the fans complained about his effort. Thank the Hockey Gods for 1-year contracts.

...i tell you what Gaborik isn't that far behind.

Yesterday, Wyshynski named Henrik Lundqvist as the Rangers mid-season MVP.

...minus the random soft goal, Hank has been unreal this year especially lately.

Can Torts Work Magic With Wolski?

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

wolskiRory Boylen at The Hockey News wonders of John Tortorella will be able to revive Wojtek Wolski the way he did Brian Boyle and Steve Eminger...

"While the Rangers shave a little more than $1 million off the cap, opening up other possibilities as the Feb. 28 trade deadline nears, New York made this move believing their coach could get Wolski back on track. While Phoenix knows what it's getting on their end, the Rangers are waiting to see if their coach can work his magic on another misfit."

Wolski may not have gotten off the best start with Torts after saying yesterday he was looking forward to playing a "run and gun" style with the Rangers.

...you could definitely see Wolski's skill level last night, but you can also see that he can be a lazy player which won't fly on a Torts lead team.

ESPN: Rangers A Surprise Team in East

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

ESPN gives out their mid-season grades and give the Rangers a B+...

New York Rangers
Summary: The Rangers hit the midpoint on a roll. They rank sixth in goals allowed per game, and coach John Tortorella has cobbled together a fashionable offense that surprisingly ranks 12th in the NHL. The hard-working Rangers also rank first in one-goal games with a 12-2-3 record. Still thin down the middle, and now extremely young on the blue line with the departure of Michal Rozsival (dealt to Phoenix for Wojtek Wolski), the Rangers are one of the surprise teams in the East. Grade: B-plus. Trending: Up.

...loving everyone jumping on the bandwagon after killing the Rangers in the off-season.

Rangers Talk Loss to Habs (1/11/11) - Updated

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 11:05 a.m.:
Jesse Spector at the Blueshirts Blog has more post game reaction...

Brandon Dubinski on Habs pest P.K. Subban...

"I don't really want to talk about that guy," Dubinsky said. "I thought it was a slew-foot. He got called for the first one. Should've gotten called for the second one. That's all I want to talk about with that."

Wojtek Wolski on the game...

"I think we did a good job of getting their D to back off," Wolski said. "There is so much speed from Gabby. A lot of times their D was afraid. I think the biggest thing was that we created a lot of offense. We took it to the net and had a lot of opportunities. Their goalie played well and they won, but we had a lot of opportunities."

Chris Drury on playing in tight games...

"Down the second half and stretch, there's going to be a ton of tight games," Chris Drury said. "You might get the odd explosion game where there's a lot of goals, but it's just going to get stingier and stingier. Teams are going to be tight all around the ice."

Original Post:
The below quotes were released by the Rangers after the game...

John Tortorella on Wojtek Wolski...

"He certainly was around the puck and had a number of opportunities to score. I thought he played hard. You can see his talent level. I thought he played a good game."

Henrik Lundqvist on tonight's game...

"I thought we played a pretty good game. It could have gone either way. We definitely had our chances at the end to tie it up. They are a good team, they are a fast team. It was a fun game to play but unfortunately we came up short tonight."

Brandon Dubinsky on tonight's game...

"We had our chances. The momentum went back and forth. We were right there. We had our chances. We had an opportunity to get two points on home ice. We have to make sure we don't let these ones slip away and find a way to score when we have opportunities."

Canadiens 2, Rangers 1

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

nyrmtlloss
The New York Rangers (25-16-3) lost to the Montreal Canadiens (24-16-3) by the score of 2-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...can't win them all Rangers fans. Still enjoyed the effort, but Montreal was just better tonight. Plus Auld played like he wanted to prove Torts was wrong not to give him more starts as a Ranger last year. Man, I hate losing to a Gomez-lead team.

...haven't seen a soft goal like that from Lundqvist in a while. Ironic that it happens on the day he named to the All Star roster.

...now we know why Phoenix called the Rangers to trade Wolski. Got to bang that home. On the positive side he was much more noticeable offensively than Frolov. Although that wasn't very hard to do.

...Avery-Drury-Weise was by far the best line tonight. Which is probably why they lost.

...McD is looking more and more comfortable every game. Hope Del Zotto likes Connecticut in the winter.

...Gilroy is changing everyone's mind who wants him at wing. Sure, he's going to make some defensive mistakes but he's gaining confidence on offense with every shift. Great pass on the Dubi goal.

...how in the world does the ref miss the Subban trip on Dubi at the end of the game? Rangers are now 0-for-2 on getting slew foot calls. Horrible. Not that the Rangers would have scored on the power play.

...Dubi goal and all around effort confirms he was an All Star snub.

...man it'd be nice if Gaborik was doing something offensively. Make that anything.

...not sure what was up with Stepan tonight, but he was having issues with the puck at the point on the power play.

...off tomorrow then the Sedin twins and the Canucks are in town.
