...first off what a piece of garbage this Jackson guy his throwing and landing at least two punches on McIlrath after they were both laying on the ice with the linesman breaking them up. Ever hear of the code?
...this is why I love McIlrath. He will always stick up for a teammate. You can be assured that no one will be going into Lundqvist's crease when McIlrath's around. He'll dance with anyone.

...that has to be one of the funniest thing I've ever seen. Who knew Tuck was such a Rangers fan? BTW, where is he running to?
...also love that he's wearing the Lundqvist jersey.
...looks like Big Blue's magic is rubbing off on the Blueshirts.

Nine 1-goal games. 4 OT games, including a triple OT. And NYR STILL aren't even halfway to Cup. It's Toughest Title in sports to win BY FAR.

...getting real tired of Emerick mistaking Gaborik and Fedotenko for Kreider all night. It's like he just sees one number on the back of the jersey and guesses who it is.
...God I wish Sam and Joe were still doing the games. If there wasn't a tape delay, I would so turn the sound down on the television and listen to the call on the radio.

...love when the Rangers get physical with the opponents star players. Not doing it enough in this series.
...saw a few Caps fans on Twitter say Girardi should have been penalized for leaving his feet. Seriously, Capital fans? Seriously?

#NYR W/ 10 sec left Lundqvist was already thinking ahead to Game 6: " I looked up and thought, this is gonna be tough."
— Katie Strang (@KatieStrangESPN) May 8, 2012
...way to have faith in your teammates Lundqvist. I kid Hank, because looking at my Twitter feed right before the Richards tying goal, Rangers Nation was in full panic mode as well.
...Rangers usually on the other end of that, so it felt really good for it to go the Blueshirts way for once.

After scoring the game winner in overtime last night, Marc Staal addressed his recovery from post concussion syndrome with Katie Strang at ESPN NY..."I'm certainly feeling better and better. As the year has gone on, I've felt better and better. Playoffs are a lot of fun and I'm having fun with it."
...yeah, I'd say he's feeling much better. As the season wore on you could see it coming, but there was always a setback in his performance. However, since the playoffs started he's found his game. Especially in this series. Not sure if it's seeing Ovechkin on the other side or what but he's looking like the Rangers top defenseman again.
...more than last night's goal, the thing that has me the most encouraged about his recovery is his physical play of late. He has been throwing his body around without a care in the world.
...Staal also made one of the most underrated plays of the game stopping that 3-on-1 late in the third.
Brad Richards discussed the difficulties of recovering from a concussion...
"No one understands that injury unless you go through it," said Richards, who battled a concussion of his own while playing in Dallas last season. "I've gone through one and I didn't miss half the season and jump into it, so the benefit of the doubt goes to him all the time and he's gotten nothing but better."
BTW, how awesome is this pic from the net cam of Staal's winner...

Pat Leonard at the Daily News has this quote from Ryan Callahan about the atmosphere in the Garden during the final minute..."Twenty seconds left, they're standing up chanting, 'Let's Go Rangers.' That fuels you. That makes you feel good. To be able to get that one for them and hear the Garden explode - I haven't heard it that loud since I've been here."
...have I mentioned I love Callahan. As a fan it means so much to hear the captain acknowledge and appreciate the passion of the Garden Faithful.
Speaking of the Garden being loud last night, here's video reader Tim S. sends me of John Amirante singing the National Anthem...

On the Brad Richards tying goal, Ryan Callahan does an amazing job chipping the puck away from Jay Beagle off the faceoff to give the Rangers possession of the puck and the opportunity to tie it up (6 second mark)...

Then on the winner, not only does John Mitchell win the face-off, but he makes a perfect bank pass off the side wall to Marc Staal for the winner...

Neither of the those plays were on the back pages today, but without them the Rangers don't win last night.

The New York Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals by the score of 3-2 in overtime in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals matchup. The Rangers lead the series 3-2. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.
...GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL, GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY!
...we were owed that one Rangers fans after what Drury and Afinogenov did to us in Game 5 of Eastern Conference Semifinals back in 2007.
...this team has been resilient all season, but tonight's victory took it to a whole other level. Something special happening here Rangers fans.
...i don't care if Richards scores just one goal in the remaining eight years of his deal, it was so worth it. It never felt so good, to be so wrong.
...not sure there's a player on the Rangers team who deserved to score that goal more than Staal after everything he's gone through this season. Good for him.
...i will never criticize the power play again....maybe.
...was that John Mitchell winning the face-off on Staal's winner? Man he's come out of no where to make some big plays the last two games.
...Lundqvist has now given up more bad goals in the last two games than he did the first five months of the season. Let's hope he's gotten them all out of his system now.
...let's not let the euphoria of the victory cloud the fact that the Rangers were having another dreadful night offensively. Don't care how many shots they had, very few were quality scoring chances.
...which is why I was so disappointed in Tortorella's decision to once again staple Kreider to the bench for most of tonight's game. I can see maybe not using him if the Rangers are up a goal late, but when you're tied or losing he has to be playing. And not on the fourth line with Mitchell and Rupp.
...great move by Stralman to avoid another blocked shot and score the Rangers first goal of the game. Hope Torts plays tape of that for the rest of the team. 25 more blocked shots for Caps tonight.
...amazing work to keep the puck alive by Callahan helping setup Richards' game tying goal.
...Capitals might have been better off if Ovechkin was suspended tonight after his zero shot effort.
...thought Bickel had a strong physical start to the game and then I never saw him again.
...Hagelin may not be scoring but at least he put his face to good use tonight.
...combined -2 for Girardi and Staal. Man do they suck. lol
...i know the Capitals were able to bounce back from the three overtime loss but this might be too much for them to overcome. Devastating.
...off tomorrow then Game 6 in Washington Wednesday night.
