Written by Kevin DeLury on .

dubinskyUpdate, 5:23 p.m.:
Spector has more quotes from Torts at the Blueshirts Blog.

Update, 5:15 p.m.:
Torts on the injury...

"I'm surprised...but we move on...you go out and play...nothing else we can do...chance for others to step up...but it is a big hole"

Update, 5:08 p.m.:
Jesee Spector tweets the reconfigured lines for tonight:

Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust
Avery-Anisimov-Gaborik
Wolski-Stepan-Zuccarello
Drury-Newbury-Weise

...if there's any silver lining at least Avery gets to play on a line with Gaborik tonight.

Update, 5:05 p.m.:
Andrew Gross reports that the Rangers will not be calling anyone up from the CT Whale as John Tortorella says "This is our team."

Dale Weise, initially a healthy scratch will obviously play tonight.

Update, 5:03 p.m.:
Jesse Spector says that no specific incident is to blame for Dubinsky injury.

Update, 4:57 p.m.:
Zipay adds that Dubinsky's leg has been bothering him for awhile. He had MRI after practice yesterday and a bone scan today. Needs rest

Update, 4:32 p.m.:

For the Rangers official announcement click here. Rangers are saying injury is to Fibula.

...the Rangers have been able to step up their game in the face of injuries all year, so I'm not about to jump ship on this team just yet. Should be interesting to see who they decide to call up Grachev (8g, 6a) or Williams (21g, 13a).

Original Post:
Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com reports that Brandon Dubinsky is out 3-4 weeks.

Steve Zipay adds that it is a stress fracture of tibia in left leg.

Dubinsky leads the Rangers with 17 goals, 21 assists and 38 points.

...this has to be some kind of cruel joke.

Vinny at Optional Skate; Christensen on the Mend

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Jesse Spector tweets that Vinny Prospal joined Biron, Anisimov, McDonagh, Newbury, Sauer, Weise and Zuccarello at the Rangers optional practice this morning.

...nothing to this as all reports indicate it will be a while before Prospal returns if he does at all.

Meanwhile Steve Zipay reports that Erik Christensen, who sprained his right MCL Dec. 29, is walking normally and hopes to begin skating in 7-10 days.

...assuming Newbury or Weise get sent down.

Rangers vs. Jagr? (Updated)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 11:18 a.m.:
Laurie Carr at Beyond the Blueshirts adds that Bardin is hoping past relationship with Glen Sather and presence of Jagr will help sway leagues to send Rangers to Omsk for exhibition game next fall.

Original Post:

Omsk GM Bardin, while saying he'd love #NYR to play in Omsk next fall, makes clear negotiations are strictly between NHL & KHL, not clubsless than a minute ago via Echofon

Rangers are one of six teams asked to start the 2011-12 season in Europe.

...if the NHL could make this happen I would be pretty pumped and change my stance (against) on the Rangers starting the season across the pond.

...this is a huge week coming up. Could either set the Rangers up for a nice run to the playoffs or set them back forcing Blueshirts to fight for a final spot.

Take the Good With the Bad Rangers Fans

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Responding to a rant from a Rangers fan about the Blueshirts not playing 60 minutes every game, Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com said this...

"Let's remember where most people had the Rangers before the season started. Eighth? Ninth? Tenth? They've had a wonderful, surprising season. The best part of it is that it's the homegrown Rangers players making the difference. Let's not get greedy here. There are going to be nights when they just don't have it; they don't have a bona fide No. 1 center. The offense will be an issue some nights. But these guys are working for coach John Tortorella, and they're fun to watch. Take the good with the bad!"

...i normally don't agree with anything anyone at ESPN says about the Rangers, but LeBrun hits the nail on the head here. This team is overachieving big time this season and Rangers fans should enjoy the success during a bona fide rebuilding process.
