Maaaaarty...See the Rangers Take on the Devils for $45

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

nyrtixsSee the Rangers take on Fatso Brodeur and the Devils tomorrow at MSG for as little as $45!!!

The ticket program TiqIQ that I have a widget for on the right hand side has found these tickets at StubHub, Ebay and other ticketing sites.

I'm also seeing fans getting ridiculously low prices through EBay auctions. A word of caution on the EBay auctions, please make sure you research the seller. There are a lot of scam artists out there and the last thing you guys need is to be taken for a ride.

Thanks for Sticking With Me

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

thanksIts been 2 1/2 months since my move to Bloguin and I finally feel 100% comfortable with my new surroundings.

The process hasn't been an easy one, with expected and unexpected issues. But throughout it all you guys stuck with me and I can't express how much that means to me.

I'm sure there were plenty of opportunities for you to give up on me and jump ship, but the fact that last month was the second most visited month in the history of the blog shows that you believed in me and for that I promise to never let you down.

As I always say, this blog is only as good as its readers and you have proved it once again.

Lets Go Rangers!!!!

11 Reasons to Watch the Rangers

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

MSGNetwork has a list of the Top 11 reasons to watch the Rangers in 2011 including John Tortorella's post game pressers, the young guns, Henrik Lundqvist's saves and the #1 reason...

1. The Blueshirts are Sitting Pretty for the Playoffs
Although there's plenty of puck to be played, the Rangers are in third in the Atlantic Division and sixth in the Eastern Conference. If there's no other reason to watch the Blueshirts in 2011, it's the possibility of a campaign for hockey's ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup.

...pretty cool list except for the "Gabby's Gorgeous Goals" because, you know, he isn't scoring any this season.

Rangers Will Be Buyers at Deadline

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

With the trade deadline just over three weeks away (Feb. 28th), Corey Masisak at NHL.com says the Rangers will be buyers...

The Rangers are probably going to want to see what the lineup looks like with some of the injured guys back before making any decisions, but the addition of Wojtek Wolski and a healthy Vinny Prospal is a boost up front. Count the Rangers as one of several teams who could be in the market for a veteran defenseman. Verdict: BUYERS

...would be shocked to see the Rangers make a big splash at the deadline. Sure they need a veteran defenseman and a front line center, but the Rangers are committed to youth so for them to give up prospects for a couple of rentals would be very hypocritical.

...stay the course Glen, stay the course.

ESPN: Rangers Are Pretenders

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

ESPN.com's "experts" (Scott Burnside, E.J. Hradek and Pierre LeBrun) all call the Rangers pretenders when trying to separate a few of the contenders from the pretenders. Here's Hradek's take...

Hradek: Pretender
I think the Rangers are moving in the right direction. They are a young, hard-working group that competes hard in all three zones. Plus, they have a top stopper, Henrik Lundqvist, who will keep them in just about every game. At this point, I see them more as a sleeper that will give an opponent a tough time. I just don't think they have enough to be considered a true contender ... yet. But they're getting there.

...if ESPN is calling the Rangers pretenders, Blueshirt fans should expect a nice Cup run from the Rangers this spring.

...h/t to readers Nick and Michele.

Did Prust Embellish Staal Punch? (Updated)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 11:52 p.m.:
Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants has this quote from Prust on the incident...

"It was kind of surprising, it happened quick, he caught me on the sweet spot, i got my bell run," said Prust, who sat out the rest of the second period but played in the third. "It was just more the surprise. I told Rammer (trainer Jim Ramsey) I was ready to go. They checked me over. I think it was all a reaction (by Jordan Staal). I came in and hit a guy (Tyler Kennedy) and he came in and stuck up for him. He threw a punch. I agree with the call (a five-minute match penalty for intent to injure and a game misconduct). Stuff happens on the ice. I'm happy he did, we got a five-minute penalty. Thank you."

Original Post:
Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy has the fallout from Jordan Staal's sucker punch to Brandon Prust that earned the Penguins center a five minute major and a match penalty (automatic one game suspension)...

The reactions have been heavily slanted against Prust here. Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette wrote: "Brandon Prust looked like Glass Joe after taking that punch from Staal. Nice sell job."

Wyshynski, a Devils fan, adds that he hoped the NHL does the right thing and rescinds any further punishment for Staal.

Dave Lozo of NHL.com reports Prust said after the game that Staal really did drop him with that punch which caught him on the button when he wasn't expecting it.

Here's video...

...here comes the national media in defense of the precious Penguins. If any of them actually followed the Rangers they would know Prust is the toughest guy on the team who constantly fights opponents much bigger than him and has not once ever embellished or taken a dive on any play as a Ranger.

...what do you think?

Penguins 4, Rangers 3, SO

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

nyrpensloss
The New York Rangers (29-20-4) lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins (32-15-4) by the score of 4-3 in a shootout, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...hate to leave points on the table against a Pens team that was playing without a center and two of the best players in the league. Callahan, Stepan and Anisimov all not cashing in on wide open opportunities in front didn't help.

...not sure why our shootout specialists decided to change strategy tonight. Having said that Fleury was pretty good.

...speaking of shootouts, I guess we can officially say Torts made the right decision going with Jokinen over Gaborik last season.

...Callahan and Dubinsky both return without missing a beat. Seeing Callahan being Callahan again really makes you realize how much the Rangers missed him.

...while Prust had another strong game (1g, +1), I thought his fight with Engelland was ill-advised and seemed to swing momentum over to the Pens. First rule of fighting is never do it when you have the other team down. Prust should know better.

...nice to see Del Zotto get a power play point, not so nice seeing him get beat by Rupp.

...thought Rangers missed Eminger's toughness in front of Hank tonight. Expect him back in the lineup Thursday night, with maybe Gilroy out.

...Rangers need to realize Hank is going to stop anything from 10 feet out and get their sticks out of the way.

...Newbury glued to the bench after elbowing penalty led to Pens second goal. Ended the game with just 4:58 of ice time.

...Rangers faceoff success (38-for-63) technically doesn't count since the Pens played almost the entire game without a natural centerman.

...off tomorrow then Devils in town on Thursday.
