Rangers Viewing Party Feb. 18th

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

viewingpartyNewyorkrangers.com reports that the Rangers will be hosting a viewing party on Friday, February 18th at 6:30 p.m. at Mustang Sally's in Manhattan to watch the Blueshirts take on the Devils.

Alumni in attendance will be Ron Duguay and Dan Blackburn.

...i attended the Rangers draft party last summer and I must say they know how to put on a great event.

Wolski With Boyle & Prust (Updated)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Update, 1:48 p.m.:
Torts on Drury injury...

"He has had cranky knee and has progressively gotten worse...this has gone a few weeks & flared up again last night"

...sure it did. Does the Rangers organization think we're stupid?

Update, 1:38 p.m.:
Eric Christensen will return to the Rangers lineup tomorrow in Montreal as Chris Drury will miss the road trip due to a sore knee.

...so this is the plan the Rangers and Drury came up with to save face.

Update, 1:35 p.m.:
Hank stayed after practice to work on some things with MZA and Boyle.

Update, 12:51 p.m.:
Torts had long talk with Gaborik then team at practice. Team seemed fired up afterward as all players banged sticks on the ice.

...Gabby doesn't need a talk he needs Avery. Which shows how much he' s struggling.

Update, 12:43 p.m.:

Carey Price will start for the Canadiens tomorrow against the Rangers.

Original Post:
@thenyrangers tweets that Wojtek Wolski is skating with Brian Boyle and Brandon Prust at practice this afternoon, while Erik Christensen has taken Chris Drury's (not on the ice) spot on a line with Sean Avery and Mats Zuccarello.

The other two lines remain the same.

...not exactly the lines we were looking for Torts.

My Lines Going Forward

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Things have been a bit of a struggle lately for the Rangers, especially with players trying to find their roles with guys coming back from injury. During last night's post game live chat I proposed these lines going forward. What do you think...

Avery-Prospal-Gaborik
Zuccarello-Stepan-Wolski
Prust-Boyle-Drury
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan

...these lines have either worked well this season or have players with great chemistry. They seem like a no brainer. No?

No Timetable for Boogaard

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

boogaardfightcampLarry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Derek Boogaard, who has been sidelined with a concussion since Dec. 9, has been sent to Minneapolis to work with a doctor of osteopathic medicine with whom he has a previous relationship from his tenure with the Wild...

"There is no timetable for Boogaard's return, but sources have said the 28-year-old winger is making progress toward a recovery from the symptoms that had plagued him following the fight and leading up to the All-Star break."

Brooks adds that It is difficult to envision Boogaard cracking the lineup at any point this season.

...Boogaard has been out for so long I forget he's on the team. Even if healthy, Boogaard probably would have been a scratch more often then not during the stretch run. He'd be smart to sit out for the rest of the season to get himself healthy for next year.

...while I'm still critical of his contract, I do think there is a role for Boogaard on this team in the future.

Torts: Our Goaltending Hasn't Been There

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

lundyAndrew Gross at Ranger Rants has quotes from John Tortorella on his unhappiness with Henrik Lundqvist's play of late...

"Let's call a spade a spade. Our goaltending hasn't been there, certainly not at the level it needs to be this time of year. The Florida game we did everything but win it. The last game, too, prior to this one, we played well enough to win...We get five out of the six points if we get just decent goaltending."

Hank added this about his performance tonight...

"We are not going to win the hockey game if I don't play better," said Lundqvist. "I know that I have to be better. I'm very disappointed."

For player post game thoughts go to the Rangers Report.

...this has really come out of left field to me. Sure Hank was horrific tonight, but two goals were deflected in against the Penguins and I thought he was fine against the Panthers.

...the guy carries the team 98% of the time he's going to have a bad stretch here and there. That's why the Rangers brought in Biron, maybe get him a few games in a row while Hank works on some things.

Devils 3, Rangers 2

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

nyrnjdloss
The New York Rangers (29-21-4) lost to the New Jersey Devils (18-30-3) by the score of 3-2, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...another game another 20 minute effort. Not sure what's going on with this team lately but they aren't coming ready to play and it looks like the comebacks have finally run out.

...all the players coming back from injury might actually be a negative as everyone is trying to feel each other out and figure out their new roles.

...i think Hank was out too late with Bieber last night. Not exactly the goaltending matchup we're used to as both goalies seemed to struggle in this one. With Montreal being Hank's "House of Horrors" I fully expect Biron on Saturday.

...seriously what is wrong with the power play?

...seriously what is wrong with the faceoffs?

...Torts, please put Avery back with Gaborik. Avery-Prospal-Gaborik. Done.

...i think Del Zotto punched his ticket back to the Whale with his pp giveaway and consequent penalty.

...that camera angle on the final play messed with my eyes the same way it did for Micheletti. I was certain it went in.

...forgot how much I missed Prospal's emotion. It's infectious.

...have I mentioned it's great to have Cally back.

...another game another missed wide open net.

...Drury = Done.

...Girardi has had a tough time since his return from injury. Concerned he might still be hurt.

...Rangers head to Montreal for afternoon game on Saturday.
