Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants reports that Marian Gaborik left today's game with a concussion that he may have sustained in a previous game...

"Gaborik was playing along," Tortorella said, adding Gaborik came out of today's day after complaining of being off, which, Tortorella said, was the first time Gaborik had given the Rangers any concrete indication. "I know he's had some conversations off the ice, he just wasn't dead on. But that's something we're going to have to talk to him and Rammer (trainer Jim Ramsey) about.

"It didn't happen this game, I'm not sure when it happened," Tortorella said at first, before softening those comments. "He's been off and on. I don't know when it happened."

...if the Rangers knew he had a concussion and still allowed him to play this will be the biggest concussion bungle since the Mets with Ryan Church. I'll reserve further judgement until we hear more details.

...to show how tough a year Gaborik is having I don't really think the Rangers are going to miss him, production wise, if he's out a significant amount of time with this concussion.

...nice to see the MZA-Stepan-Wolski line click again. They can be a very exciting line. Unfortunately, because they are so young they'll also be inconsistent.

...i know Hank looked pretty bad on that third goal, but if you look at the reply his stick gets caught up with Sauer throwing off his balance and leaving the five hole wide open.

...thought Sauer and McD had tough games. McD with a giveaway at the blueline before the first Fkyers goal then they allowed Carcillo to get behind them on the above mentioned third goal.

Yahoo! Sports says that when the Rangers and Flyers take the ice this afternoon no one will need to remind Philly of what happened in their last visit to Madison Square Garden on Jan. 16 when Sean Avery one punched Matt Carle and Brandon Prust blasted Kimmo Timonen into the boards in the closing seconds of the Flyers 3-2 win.

Danny Briere took a swing at Prust from the Flyers bench after the hit on Timonen and was fined $1,000.

Peter Laviolette said this after the game...

"I think what's frustrating is we had lots of guys that wanted to have a little dance with Avery but he wouldn't respond," Laviolette said. "That's what's frustrating about the whole thing. He goes after Matt Carle. I don't think he has any fights in his whole career. We've got lots of guys that wanted to do it, (Avery) just didn't want to respond."

Yahoo! says to expect the Flyers to dress enforcer and former Ranger Jody Shelley and agitator Dan Carcillo.

...good, I hope the Flyers come in more concerned about Avery and Prust than beating the Rangers. Amazing how Avery after all these years is still able to get under teams' skin.

...and who are the Flyers to say anything about Avery fighting Carle? Do those guys even remember Carcillo fighting Gaborik?

Steve Simmons at the Toronto Sun reports that Brad Richards says the Rangers are either second or third on his list of teams he'd like to go to...

"The free agent to-be has told an old Tampa source that he has no real interest in playing in Toronto, if he, in fact, becomes a free agent come July. Richards' first choice is to remain in Dallas, assuming the team gets sold and can afford to sign him. His second and third choice, not necessarily in order, would be returning to Tampa (which doesn't seem possible economically) or playing for his old coach, John Tortorella, with the New York Rangers. He has also hinted about having some interest regarding playing in Carolina."

...listen I won't complain if the Rangers get a player as good as Richards this offseason, but he is going to cost a lot and could hamper the Rangers effort to re-sign all their RFAs (Dubi, Cally, AA and Sauer).

Jesse Spector reports that multiple sources have told the Daily News that the Rangers are interested in acquiring Senators winger Chris Neil.

Neil, who is third in the NHL this season with 157 penalty minutes, three goals and nine assists in 58 games this season. Neil has two years left on his contract after this year at $2 million per.

In more oh God, please no news, Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun reiterates Larry Brooks report from earlier in the week that the Rangers have serious interest in Filip Kuba.

...first Kuba and now Neil. Please someone in the Rangers organization erase the Senators phone number from Sather's speed dial.

...assuming the Rangers don't have to give up a roster player for Neil (they better not), where in the world is he going to play? Especially when Fedotenko comes back. And then he's going to be under contract for the next two years? Unless Boogaard is going to be forced to retire b/c of this concussion, why would the Rangers need Neil for two more years?

...very puzzling.

...and please don't get me started on Kuba again.

In other trade buzz, Pierre LeBrun at ESPN says the Rangers are among teams interested in McCabe, but is being told they don't want to pay anywhere close to the price Boston paid for Kaberle.

The Bruins gave up 2009 first round pick Joe Colborne, their 2011 1st round pick and a conditional pick.

...they better not.

Finally, sources have confirmed to Larry Brooks at the New York Post that the Rangers were not in any of the trade talks for Tomas Kaberle or Eric Brewer.

...but all the "experts" had the Rangers linked to both of them. Could it be that most of the rumors around deadline time aren't true? Nah.

Mgoblue.com reports that Rangers prospect Carl Hagelin (2007 - 6th) tied the game with 39.1 seconds left before notching the game-winner with 2.9 remaining in overtime as the University Michigan ice hockey team sneaked past Western Michigan, 5-4, last night on Senior Night at Yost Ice Arena.

Jesse Spector at The Prospect Park named Hagelin his first prospect star of the night for his accomplishments.

Jesse Spector at the Daily News reports that when the Hartford Whale's season ends, Wade Redden will try to chart a course back to the NHL and may consider walking away from the remaining three years and $16.5 million on his Rangers contract...

"That's one of the options," Redden said. "There's that, there's coming back here, there's going to Europe. I don't know. It's a lot of money, but at the same time, I don't want to - it's only a short time that you have a career, so you want to be at the highest level as long as you can. Obviously, the money isn't the No. 1 thing."

...wow that would be pretty huge depending on when he walked away this summer as Redden's salary is charged against the Rangers cap in the off-season.

...while his signing was a colossel disaster, the human side of me hopes he's able to catch on with a NHL team.
