Prust Sits; Avery with Stepan & MZA (Updated)

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Updated, 12:56 p.m.:
Tortorella is not sure what tomorrow's lineup will be but there is a chance Prust will sit.

Jim Cerny adds that there are nights recently where he can't believe that Brandon Prust has willed himself to play.

...the guy is a warrior but his effectiveness has been hampered due to injury. As much as I'd hate to see him out of the lineup the rest should help him finish strong.

Original Post:
Arthur Staple at Newsday reports that Brandon Prust was the only Ranger not practicing today.

...with Prust so banged up Torts has been giving him maintenance days here and there so expect him in the lineup tomorrow night vs. the Islanders.

With Prust out, Sean Avery is skating on a line with Derek Stepan and Mats Zuccarella.

Here are the rest of the lines...

Prospal-Christensen-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Wolski-Boyle-Fedotenko
Avery-Stepan-Zuccarello

...while I'd love to see Avery back in there, no way Torts changes lineups after the big win in San Jose.

Video: McIlrath Pounds On Another One

Here's video of Dylan McIlrath's latest beat down (via The Prospect Park)...

...obviously McIlrath still has a lot to work on hockey-wise, but man I'd love to have this kid's physical presence in the Rangers line-up next year.

Getting to Know Biron

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

biron2Mark Malinowski at The Hockey News sits down with Marty Biron to talk about numerous issues from most memorable moment to favorite TV show. Here's Biron's answer to favorite uniform...

"I like our white uniforms a lot. The Rangers white. Other than that, a lot of teams come out with the third jerseys now, there's some really cool ones. The jersey I got drafted in in Buffalo - the old Sabres logo I thought was very cool also."

...those uniforms look especially good at MSG.

Rangers 3, Sharks 2, SO

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

The New York Rangers (36-30-4) defeated the San Jose Sharks (39-22-8) by the score of 3-2 in a shootout, last night. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...i guess Avery was the problem? Seriously, huge win for the Rangers. I was concerned going into the game, but as has been the case all year they never stop working and beat a tough Sharks team in their barn.

...don't want to overstate things but Dubinsky's shootout goal was as clutch as Jokinen's miss last year was unclutch.

...why isn't Sauer in any Calder talks?

...i was joking about Avery above, but you have to give Torts credit for making the right move going with Christensen. I hate to say it but he's got to come right back with the same lineup on Tuesday against the Islanders.

...less than eight minutes for MZA. Assuming that's going to happen from time to time with a young player still trying to learn the NHL game.

...Wolski's shootout goal reminded me of Strudwick's back in 2005 that set the stage for Malik's between the legs winner.

...no way Lundqvist was going to be denied tonight. Was it just me or was he wearing a new mask?

...another horrific game from the officials.

...off today and tomorrow then the resurgent Islanders are at MSG.

Avery Scratched Tonight; EC In

Erik Christensen back in lineup tonight..Sean Avery will be scratchedless than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Torts says reason for Avery benching is his inconsistency.

...as I predicted. Prust has been hurt and needs a blow more than anyone on the team. But Torts' mysterious untrust of Avery continues.
