The Rangers have announced that Alain Vigneault will go with the same lineup tonight against the Dallas Stars.
This obviously means JT Miller and Justin Falk are the healthy scratches.
Vigneault noted to Pat Leonard at the Daily News that even though he didn't play Dan Carcillo much against the Blackhawks, he liked what he brought.
...even if you don't like the decision to play Carcillo over Miller tonight (I'm not one of them), there's no way you can complain about AV sticking with the same lineup that just defeated the Stanley Cup champs.
...while you might not think Dallas is a tough, physical team, they do have a big time agitator in Antoine Roussel, who, I have a sneaking suspicion, might be challenged by Carcillo tonight.
Henrik Lundqvist will obviously be back between the pipes.
Kiss of death? Each time AV praises a guy, i.e, Miller, Falk, Allen, they become a scratch within a game or two.
Btw, Rangers presently tied for 5th in the league in shots on goal...ahead of the Penguins, Bruins, Blues, Caps and Canucks. Unfortunately the conversion percentage may be the lowest in the league.
@TheNYRBlog kev, why was Roussel scratched last night?
I'm reading that a lot of people think oilers are going to trade gagner after the Olympics. they need a dman. ummmmm...SEE YUH DAN GIRARDI!!!
Can AV sit Stepan and play Miller? Would like to see that greedy underachiever Step take a seat for a game or two and see if it wakes him up. What can it hurt - he doesn't win draws and he isn't putting up points.
He better be challenged by Carcillo tonight! That's why we got Carcillo. And this would be one time I would be rooting for him as that pest needs to learn a lesson or two LOL
@RZimm2 I saw that. No idea. He said he's healthy and I'm pretty sure he's back in the lineup tonight.
Been say that since day 1... and some here acting to give him 5.5 million for 5 yrs.....are smoking crack... He is garbage...
I'm a huge fan of miller. I loved how he came out of this last AHL assignment. I want him as our 3rd line center for years to come.
@TheNYRBlog yeah I think ur right.. Strange..he's been effective
somebody should take Stepan's Xbox away
We have so many two way centers... Miller, stepan, Lindberg. Eventually we are going to have to part ways with one to find a more offensive guy... Or at least one that can win faceoffs lol
Orpik would be a real nice pick-up. As far as centers go, after Thorton and Statsny, its pretty slim pickings on the UFA list.
Thorton will be 35 when the Free Agent Market opens. I like the idea of pairing him with Nash, but anything more than a 2 or 3 year deal would be a mistake. Although he hasn't shown quite the same drop off through his early 30s as Richards, so expect Sather to give him 5 years. My concern would just be the price. He'll be a hot commodity, and San Jose has always been a competitive team, just struggled in the playoffs, so the asking price will probably be pretty steep. But with the cap going up, maybe a 2-3 year deal for 5-6 mil to reunite him with Nash is a worthwhile risk.
Big Lindberg fan but it's kinda a stretch putting him in the conversation when he hasn't sniffed the NHL yet
I want an elite 1st line center (maybe Thornton if he can be had for a good deal) and a hard nosed D, Orpik (same). Probably not likely though. Wouldn't be bad to sign an elite offensive d-man too (who can open ice), but the only UFA I see that fits that category maybe is Dan Boyle (and he's kinda out of his prime)
U get more value for Stepan... and less contract obligation with brassard.....and u get same value.... dump Stepan....
I love brassard. I think he's going to be good. I'd give him one more 3 year deal and see what happens.
I'd drop Step to 2nd, let Brass walk or trade his rights for a pick, and then go out and sign a real first line center with the money you free up from buying out Richards. Stepan and Nash just aren't clicking the way a 1st line on a godd team should. Still too easy to negate.
next year should be step, brass, miller, and a real forth line center that we desperately need. when we buy out richie we need to get a scoring winger. I think lindberg needs another year in the AHL. he's not ready. at this point I would trade step if push came to shove.
