Adrian Dater at the Denver Post reports that the Rangers have continued to scout the Avalanche even after the Michael Del Zotto trade as they had representatives at Colorado games last night and Saturday night.
The Avalanche have been said to have passing interest in Del Zotto, so the prevailing thought was the Rangers were scouting them for a possible return.
...the only two players I could possibly see the Rangers interested in are either Stastny or O'Reilly, but both seem like legit long shots. Stastny is a UFA at the end of the season, so I'm not sure why the Rangers would give up assets to obtain him when they can just throw a truck load of money at him in an attempt to sign him this offseason. As far as O'Reilly is concerned, all reports indicate that head coach Patrick Roy loves the guy, so I have no idea why Colorado would want to move him. Especially since they're in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race.
...one wild card could be former Ranger PA Parenteau who was held out of the Avs game last night in anticipation of a trade with the Canadiens for Rene Bourque which Montreal backed out of at the last minute. While Parenteau's numbers have slipped slightly this season, he has really come into his own since signing with the Islanders in 2010. Having said that, I'm not so sure how much better he makes the Rangers and feel it would end up being if nothing else a sideways move. Parenteau has two more years on his contract that pays him $4 million per year.
There have also been past reports of the Rangers calling the Avalanche about the availability of defenseman Tyson Barrie.
...i have to assume the trade for Klein has quelled any Rangers interest in the Colorado defenseman.
how about alex tanguay, a lw / rw scorer, as much as they have been scoring more lately a proven scorer always helps. just don't know where they'd play him. don't know his money #'s though. maybe just for security. pouliot ??? just a thought.
Maybe they were scouting for a trade and now they're scouting to see if Stasny would be a good off-season target or another head-case. Or maybe you're all right and they just want a Rocky Mountain High.
@TheNYRBlog Because they have a lot of scouts?
Maybe our scouts have a marijuana habit to feed?? Might explain finally moving Del Zaster ("We know overseeing USA hockey is tough, Mr. Poille. Here, take a hit of this...now lets talk about Michael...") Certainly not as much hockey to watch up in Washington...
@TheNYRBlog p a parrento ?
@TheNYRBlog Rangers play the Avs next week ...
@TheNYRBlog maybe because they play them on Tuesday. Advanced scouting of a top Western Conference team. NYR and Avs meet two times
@TheNYRBlog girardi maybe?
@TheNYRBlog girardi is a gonner palmieri and #1
@TheNYRBlog maybe the scouts really like the strip clubs in Denver. I can't think why else.
@TheNYRBlog the reason is because we are playing Colorado February 4th and are scouting them.
@TheNYRBlog Recreational activities in Colorado?
@bmitchelf Got to find something to do with them I guess. lol
@ScottyHockey Yeah, but they've been scouting them for months. How much do they need to scout them?
@RKBeckman They've been scouting them for a long time now. How much do you have to scout a Western Conference team?
@me295 @TheNYRBlog I hope not, just because some of the dimwit Rangers fans now turned on Girardi as a whipping boy it does not mean that he is no good. (Anyone remembers Rozsival, he is playing on a defending Stanley cup champs and is still playing very well as a regular.) and please don't turn on me for this blog unless you are a dimwit. I'm sure there are a lot of you who agrees with me. Girardi is a solid first line defender and will be one for years to come. So back off dimwit's!!!!!!!
@Mike_Randazzo34 Legalized pot.
@jimbro83 They've been scouting them for too long to think it's just for that game. Why would they scout a Western Conf. that much?
@TheNYRBlog @bmitchelf Is it possible that they maybe entertaining a trade of Sather for Sackic even up? LOL.
@TheNYRBlog scouts have a purpose, to look at a player or to watch the systems. Before it was for a trade, now it's to see what Roy is doing
@TheNYRBlog the NYR brass being degenerate druggies would explain some of their moves & their desperate need for more of our cash ...
@ScottyHockey Or maybe it's because pot is legal in Colorado.
