Rangers place Taylor Pyatt on waivers...likely means that Callahan will be ready Fri in Pitt or Sat in Tor— Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) January 1, 2014
...Happy New Year's Taylor Pyatt, you've been put on waivers. Assuming this is not only music to Rangers fans ears, but to Pyatt's, who couldn't be happy sitting in the press box every night.
...too slow, too soft and zero scoring. I think that pretty much sums up Pyatt's time with the Rangers.
...having said that, he's still a serviceable NHL player in the final year of an affordable contract ($1.55M per), so I'm hopeful a team will claim him and get his salary completely off the Rangers books. If not, it's off to the Wolfpack to join former underachieving teammate Arron Asham.
...now the question is, who replaces Pyatt in the press box? Assuming it's not Miller, because if he was the odd man out, he, not Pyatt, would be headed to Hartford. Richards shoutout goal might have saved him, so the target could be on either Boyle or D. Moore.
@TheNYRBlog WTF with your site and candy crush?! Ugh!
If we are getting Kadri most likely Brassard is going to Toronto along with DZ and we get Gardiner back as well (maybe some draft picks too). Just being realistic.
If any of you have watched HBO's 24/7 with Toronto it's not surprising Kadri's being offered in a trade. One of the cockiest hockey players I've ever seen. Coaches seem to be down on his attitude up there.
If you're doing a trade with Toronto you need to get some of their toughness in a trade. I would try to include Frazer McLaren in a package with Kadri. As much as I liked Orr when he was here he's had major injuries since joining Toronto and isn't the same.
Pyatt got what he deserves. He created this situation with his lack of passion and for regressing as a player. Good riddance. Sorry if I sound harsh but he has dragged this team down by his lackluster play and just by taking up a roster spot. Enjoy the KHL idiot.
They said cally was out til mid January. Still don't think he is coming back just yet... He hasn't even practiced without a non-contact jersey yet
Boyle is so darned hard to get rid of even though it might be addition by subtraction. You can see him and what he does and doesn't do.Hard player to bench.Best bet is to try sitting both Moore and Boyle and see which subtraction gives the best Rangers team. That changes tho if Miller becomes invisible at all.Best bet for him is to score a goal or two now.
It's interesting since they're the exact same player, just different sizes. Boyle and Moore are the two best faceoff guys on the team, they both play the PK, and they're both solid defensive forwards. That being said though, when Cally comes back I think it'd be best to not ruin the teams momentum (yes, while we struggled against the Panthers, lines are still working and we're on a streak now) that Cally could do well on a 4th line of D. Moore and Dorsett. If you're looking for a hard working, forechecking, defensive line with the ability to put the puck in the net...there you go.
I like Dom, but Boyle brings more on a 4th line. Dom had the speed and better hands in a third line role.
@KingHenrikRocks Apparently they invaded mobile site. IT folks are working on it.
@KreiderisTheChosenOnesounds good to me!
Would love to see McLaren policing for this team.
Cally was 2 weeks away from coming back about a week ago. His return date was said to be around 1/7, so it's not a surprise he could be back this weekend.
@KreiderisTheChosenOne Cally is getting beaten up too much.... he is worn down... the human body can only absorb so much before you get old. Cally might have a few more years left - at best - but he is going to quickly deteriorate.... let's trade him; get something worth while for him before it is too late. Cally is a good man, but hockey is like a business. We need to move assets and build for the future.
@fs2020 Boyle is like Pyatt. Both of them are physically big but without bite and without physical presence. The Rangers need more aggressive forwards, like Chris Neil. That will give their high skilled players room, as opposing players think twice before aggressively defending them....I assure you, giving players like Nash and Richards a little step will make a whale of a difference in their game!!!
@SpazzBrown Nash is running scared. He needs someone to ride shotgun with him. He is playing like Lindros. A great player who lacks confidence to do what makes him great - bulldoze and use his size to get to the net.
Yup. Given an opportunity is a bit of an understatement though. He was given half of the fucking season.
Cally is not being put on the 4h line. He still has one of the highest Goal per game average on this team this season. He will likey play his first game on the 3rd line with Hagelin.
So you are saying only Callahan gets beat up playing hockey? You do realize this is a contact sport right? Honestly , i am truly getting sick of some fans calling for Callahan's trade. It is just way over the top/
