According to the Rangers, the Pittsburgh Penguins have claimed Taylor Pyatt and his $1.55M per year salary off of waivers this morning.
The Rangers play the Penguins in Pittsburgh tomorrow.
...i can pretty much guarantee Pyatt scores against the Rangers tomorrow night.
...i guess the Penguins thought they were too fast? In all seriousness, the Penguins, who have been devastated by injury, got themselves a veteran presence in the locker room and makes their bench a lot deeper. I actually think it's a good pickup for them. Which eff'n pisses me off.
Konopka is in the final year of his two year contract that pays him $925K this season.
...the Rangers just opened up some cap space with Pyatt being claimed, so I'd love to see them put in a claim request for Konopka. He was a guy I was begging for the Rangers to sign two years ago. Instead they went with Asham and we all know how that panned out.
...Konopka has been a major disappointment on the score sheet in Minnesota as he has a grand total of two points (1g, 1a) in 73 games with the Wild, but he would bring some much needed sandpaper to the Rangers lineup as well as being a major upgrade in the faceoff circle (63% the last two seasons) at a cheap price.
...i'd say Moore would likely be the odd man out if the Rangers claimed Konopka.
I like having this guy around for 4th line center depth. He is dynamite on draws and gives you a veteran with some toughness when necessary.
Doesn't hurt to add depth at center. Makes sense if Boyle gets moved or Moore goes down. Next up would be kantor and he has no nhl experience.
I agree with you, Michael, re Boyle. Many love to hate on him, but check out his FO stats, and he does a very good job on the PPK. Moore would be the odd man out in my opinion.
Lol u really wanna compare Boyle to Konapka. .
Dude Boyle gets knocked on his ass and thrown around like a rag doll. At least Konapka throws punches. Boyle is borderline tranny in disguise as a hockey player the way he fights. It's shameful and embarrassing. ..
Konopka stinks. As much as I want some toughness, if you think Boyle is a bad fighter, wait until you see Konopka. He puts up a lot of PIM's and he fights, but he's awful at it. Doesn't bring any intimidation factor.
“We’re not good enough to rely on talent because we haven’t shown we can score at will, like some teams do. So it has to be structure, it has to be a team game, four lines. When we rely on that, and stay with that, we usually give ourselves a good chance to win.” Sorry to be late to the party but is anyone else embarrassed for Richards and the Rangers that he/they feel like this?? WTF? "Wahhhh...We don't like playing for Torts and his system. We would be better if we were less restrained!" Flash forward "Waaahhh...we can't win playing with less restraint. We need a system!" How about some simple heart, you assclowns. ...It is really difficult to root for this team.
Here's something that will make you sick... Pyatt has a better chance of getting his name on the Stanley Cup than any of the Rangers this year.
Sign Konapka. I called for this for next season but get him now. .... and u can sit moore or release him....out right. KONAPKA. FIGHTS good face off guy. Kills penalties. And ha played in our conference. With Ott and the islanders......
yes on Konopka. Very minimal risk and monetary obligation. If you recall Konopka and Neil almost single handedly sent us packing in the first round in 2012.
Boyle does way too much that doesn't show up on the stat sheet to scratch him. If Konopka becomes a Ranger(which would be an excellent move) D. Moore is clearly the guy that starts chilling in the press box.
Konopka would be a nice add. Faceoffs as every one says. Is tough. Can add to odd goal. Maybe rotate him and Boyle based on matchup....
worlds is doing his happy dance wooooohooooooo - and yeah Kevin for a guy who has 0 goals and I think 2 points all season a hat trick is coming Fri night for sure. Given our current sorry state of affairs Slats would have to be an idiot not to pick up Konopka uhh oh wait, this is slats yeah, right - well I think in spite of his recent lobotomy he will still pick him up. I expect to hear the news this afternoon. hint hint...
I'd pick him up for sure. I like Moore's game lately, but its not like he's scoring at all. We could use the sandpaper for sure.
This is laughable, your pissed, then we should of kept him, He sucks, he is slow and worthless he sits or is sent down the second someone is healthy for the Pens. He wont score 5 goals all season as he won't play all season. Come on wake up And yes we should pick up ZK and sit Moore or send moore down till needed for injured player. with him at least if someone goes after Nash or Stepan, etc he has balls and will stand up for his teammates
Definetely should pickup Zenon Konopka, would add some nice depth. Guy can win faceoffs, agitate and back it up. Would be a solid pickup
Lol...that's funny as hell...borderline tranny!
@MikeSMLWhat ?? .. There's no way you can possibly compare Konopka to Boyle in the toughness dept., ... there's NO WAY ... Konopka at least holds his own, not a heavyweight by any means but MUCH more effective then Asham and as far as Boyle ? .. Boyle's a ragdoll .. horrible in toughness, absolutely horrible ..
U gonna compare Boyle and konopka? Really. At least Konopka sticks up for Team mates....... throws punches win or lose.... Boyle fights I'm sorry let me rephrase. Boyle gets his ass thrown around and his ass kicked and doesn't even throw a punch. It's embarrassing ur 6'7 and fight like a tranny on Halloween dressed ad a hickey player...
There is no comparison
Only 9 other teams need to pass on him.... fingers crossed.
He's got a twitter account for his pet rabbit......awesome?
@KreiderisTheChosenOne We have enough under performing talent running scared.... Konopka is not a bad dpick up... .a bit beaten down and worn, but has the heart of a warrior... a tougher version of Sean Avery.
He won't be a depth guy. HE will ait one of the soft players down. Either Boyle or moore. And that will beginning of the end for one of those two players in a rangers uniiform.....
@KreiderisTheChosenOneNo problem, I heard the Capitals were going to waive Ovechkin later on today.
@Bring back LangdonI'm pissed b/c I'm a Rangers fan and things usually comeback to bite us in the ass. Couldn't be happier to see Pyatt gone.
Think he is with the QMJHL for the rest of the year, but at this rater I wouldn't mind seeing him on the Rangers next Saturday ;)
Pyatt could be on the ice by himself on a break away and would trip over the blue line and shoot the puck into the blue seats u f..cking sucks balls.... Guys has zero talent and gave us nothing for a few million....
Touche hows that Larmer trade doing, gomez also,Norstrom at the time was an up and comer who turned into a real winner, remember this is NY win now mentality. How about that lundquist pick in 7th round. It all evens out in the long run. Btw how about that Park and Ratelle trade ouch babe
