JT Miller scored his eighth goal in 10 AHL games this season during last night's 6-3 Wolfpack lose to Springfield. Miller also had six shots on goal.
Danny Kristo added two assists, while Conor Allen did his best Danny Carcillo impression by getting into a scrap.
Here's video of Miller's goal, a deflection of a Kristo shot, and Allen's bout...
...from everything I'm hearing and seeing from Miller since his re-assignment, he probably shouldn't be in the AHL. He's bigger and stronger than most players in the league and seems to be easily dominating the opposition. Are there things he still needs to work on? Of course, but the competition is probably beneath him.
...the problem, as I mentioned yesterday, is there's really no room for him in the Rangers lineup. I mean, is anyone looking for AV to make a change right now? With Dorsett set to return from injury in a few weeks, there's probably even less of a chance for him to make an impact with the Rangers this season. Unless of course the crazy Carcillo shows up, then I'm pretty sure there's going to be an opening.
...btw, without Talbot, how awful is the Whale goaltending?
@Kevin DeLury they played Bridgeport, not Springfield. But it is good to see Miller scoring
Keep him down, let him dominate and gain all the confidence in the world, make him our third line C next year so we can win 2 Calders in a row.
@TheNYRBlog ewwww we are good
We are going to have wasted two years now on JTs professional contract, by playing him for more than 25 games last season. Dumb
Miller's in a tough spot. He's making a real impact in Hartford and showing that he can be a force, but when he comes up to the NHL level, he doesn't parlay that. He's not a liability, but he's not standing out as a the top 6 guy he could be on the big club. Maybe some domination at the AHL level for an extended period will get him more comfortable that he can do the same with the big boys, much like Kreider. These kids are just that, kids. Then need to convince themselves that they can play with men!
Yes, yes it is. Take your leading scorer and demote him for a guy that's got 4 points in 25 games. Come on now.
For all the shit Richie is getting this season, I feel like he hasn't been playing badly at all. He has a five game point streak going on with seven points...three of them coming off the power play. To me, he's playing miles better than Derek Stepan and his leadership is still pretty damn important for our team. I'm sorry but you take Richie's voice out of the locker room, there aren't many other players with his type of experience. He may not be the quickest skater, he may not have the skill he once did, but it's impossible to say he doesn't work his ass off night after night. Without his diving effort to keep the puck in, Kreider doesn't score his power play goal in last nights game.
@gravey94Very true. Obviously he wasn't dominating at the NHL level, but he proved he could hold his own. Great problem to have for the Rangers.
@Scott from SEC 224@Kevin DeLury@JoshKaye@calithirteen1) Richards is not worth the cap space he is occupying. 2)Richards has no business on the power play especially at the point...scary when he's playing d on a fast rush into our zone....plus for every goal he scores, he shoots 15 shots wide on open nets 3) I'd rather see Miller develop with the way this team is playing 4) saying Richards can't be touched because he is the top goal scorer right now is laughable. Nash was out for a 1/3 of the season, Stephan isn't scoring much and this team up until recently has struggled to score (old news). 5) A veteran player should have never came into the lock out season as out of shape as he did and he still has not fully bounced back to where he was 2 years ago. 6) Lastly, this was obviously a joke. Sather would never make a move like this.......Shit we are still waiting to see what he does with Del Zaster!
@Scott from SEC 224@Kevin DeLury@JoshKaye@calithirteen Look if everyone on the team played as many games as he has gotten to play then he would most definitely NOT be leading in points. Also, with his salary he damn well better be leading in something. Zucc is a point or two off of him and I believe making one/sixth his salary. #buyout
A) Richards has a no movement clause which means he cannot be waived, unless he approves it. B) Although he has not lived up to expectations, he'sthe leading scorer on the team and I don't think he deserves that kind of disrespect as a veteran player. C) He's playing well on the PP.
