any on eremeber ORLAND KURTENBACK..... one of the best....
my dream was shultz grabs poor D rolfe and poof he turns into O Kurtenback ...he pummels him to a bloody pulp ( see J freguson or ted Baxter ) montreal pussies who made the mistake.....
i DONT THINK ANYONE HAS BEEN A BETTER FIGHTER PD. FOR PD . IN HIS ERA .. AND COULD HOLD ON NOW WITH THE GRAPPLER STYLE
Game comment stream seems to not be working but good win. AV seems somewhat adaptable which is something I have not said about a NYR coach for a while. would still like to see more fire but if it's working don't fix it. Chicago looked pretty soft and no way Brass is going to be given that much time around the net without so much as a love tap. Wins like this against a top team playing soft is a mixed blessing 'cause it makes people think we're good. We need someone to play us physical and knock us out of the aren before Mar. 5 so Slats doesn't get complacent. We are not tough and it's going to bite us in the bum going down the stretch. Nash has got to bring it every night. He looked better as the game wore on capped off with his trademark move/laser beam shot. You need more than one move big guy. Got to keep crashing that net and bring that beast every night. If he don't score someone else will pick up his loose change. Step is still a step behind. Damn, he looked promising last year. Kreid's been tentative. He was explosive. He'll get it back. Pure beast!!! Love the D first mentality. Can't win without it. D first. Forecheck and use that offensive minded strategy and speed on the transitions. Add grit and a center who can feed the 2 beasts on the wings and we have something going on here. Keep Dan G. Keep Cally and let him walk after the season unless you get something of equal or greater value in return and we can at least compete when the heat comes down on us during the desperate hour. LGR
jsut finished all articles on N YR hockey...wanna revise one trade scenario...
Kesler & Nash & Kreider...now that is a #1line... to do this .....
Vancouver wants Stepan + a combo of either top prospect+ top draft pick maybe boyles + top something ...other than J T unless you have to...i dont see the rub ,supposed no REAL issue w/ A V ...
BUT YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING IF THIS ISNT BIGGEST DEAL SINCE IT LEAKED... slats has this one in his sites ....Kesler top top #1 locked up for 2 more yrs ..offer him an extension of 1-2 yrs and watch him BLEED ranger blue...THis could be a true FIND ,
think what slats saves from not going to a F A in summer ...Stastny
WIN NOW & SAVE For more talent to stay ...go slats go ...........
Kreider has to be more of a physical presence and use his speed more like Hags.Nash IS better when he applies the second effort on plays and has to play a little tougher, killer instinct is totally lacking in this big guy.Stepan chased the puck around all night long. before that one desperate pass. I didn't hear Girardi's name mentioned once during the game as he was quietly effective doing his job.I would love to see a few insurance goals and more shots from the points and d joining the rush.
goalie & defense wins ...period .....dont wanns mess w/success the 5 d men + trainee #17 are the best reason to improve offense ....they played such a tight wrapped game and have been since Klein got here....other than some expected surges and pushes ...really see the top pair as a 5 man interchangeable rotation as long as either Mac or Staal is on ice...thats like ole montreals big 4
roaming around for 25+ min(robinson#19 -lapointe#4-savard #3) cant think of one -anyway only way to improve D is to make the O more potent ...
FINAL THOUGHT ON POSSIBLE UPGRADE THRU TRADE...
1.UTMOST NEED ...#1 center ....see SPeeza Ottawa deal?doubtful
most likely in F a (Statsny) any other names avail.that are real ( no Kesler theories)...
2.Girardi A MUST TO STAY ... cant risk whats been put together ...this group has all the qualities mentioned plus depth in the wings
3.Cally A MUST GO... not anything more than # of yrs left + nopt gonna be a top 6 fwd. on this team ..cant pay for body of work ( love ya ) hope you get what you deserve
PATIENCE ..impressed with A V 's team responding with top notch effort, not gonna let anything in to distract...
Nash....who many fwd. can come out of the corner and snap off THAT BULLET
come on... get him a center to FEED THE BEAST......
KNOCKIN ON THE DOOR TO GET IN TO THE PARTY OF TOP TEAMS ....
these deals+ F A's will finish the body of work Sather wants to hang his hat on...Stanely Cup Contender ( favorite) for 5 yrs...
Talbot has been always in position, the shots are going directly to him all the time. Consistantly. He is a darn good back up netminder.
Come playoffs we know that Nash will be hemmed in, but he is a skill guy only, so that is sorta expected. Zucc will give his all, but he is small, still he will give as good as he gets. The soft underbelly of this team will actually be Brassard, Stepan and Richards. These guys will be DOMINATED physically and that is TOO many front line players to be dominated. Watch...those guys will be invisible in the playoffs. They may get on the board, but their impact will be ZERO. I would actually prefer JT Miller over ANY of those guys simply because of his speed, strong base and physicality/attitude.
Knicks Miami playing i Floridzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
@Betweentheworlds overall yeah, cant let cally sit till summer
you lose after wed. (nothing back)
I got Kesler on the brain... 1st i thought of kessler( wing)here 's our answer to the # 1 center dilemma ....KNK line ...sounds big-
He must be done with the torts deal and knows it will get worse ...
big chance for a reunion in Van. stepan -Boyle-prospect(not J T ) +draftt pick
i would do all 4 if less than a #1 pick ....cally for = value is stewie real choice...i like it ...as mando says whew when hit in the melon
gotta know cally is a ticking bomb for the I R...30 is not always a great age................
@TomDundie Vancouver are logical trade partners - obviously. Stastney may be better on paper but Kesler would be an appropriate risk and could easily emerge as the better player for this team. Step thrived under Torts. I believe you are correct sir
brassard was our best player in the playoffs last year how do u figure
UMMMM? Brassard in the playoffs last year? Our best player and the point leader through two rounds if I remember correctly. I am not worried about him, he is a gamer and brings it for the big games. Same goes for Boyle (who has always been one of our best players in the post season). Kreider is great in the playoffs as well. The guys you have to worry about are Stepan and Nash... they never produce in those types of games, and without them we can't go on a long run.
Brassard scored a goal, and stepan made the play of the game. Cally was strong on the forecheck.......no points.
not from Stevie Y's point of view.
makes the deadline that much more interesting, but I do think Cally is expendable. G needs to stay
@DominickAndreula You are an idiot that should be shot.
@KevinTheNYRBlog see above
Ya'll would have shot me for what I posted just below if that went in...
@TomDundie @BetweentheworldsHonestly I'd rather lose Cally to free agency than trade him for peanuts. You lose free agents you pick up new ones. It's life in this business and not a big deal. I'm just concerned because Cally's stock has dropped a notch this year. He has not been as tenacious, and the shoulder surgery means he probably never sniffs 30 again. Yes, if they can get return on the rental captain asking 6.75/7 great. Take it of course. Otherwise he's an asset to our team this year and if somehow we land MSL and/or Kessel, and make some smart moves (smart meaning get some bad asses in here) to balance out what would be a pretty skilled team with MSL. Nash and Co we actually could at least reach "dark horse" status for a Stanley Cup. .
@Snot-Bubbler lol...nothing you said refutes my point. This was NOT a physical game. And I didn't even mention Cally. Go back to bed Angus.
@mando24179 wait, were you even talking about Step???
@mando24179 Well if so it fooled the fuck out of me - I never thought Step was anything special and failed to see the big deal of holding up the Nash trade for an unimaginative so-so player but last year it seemed as if he had really matured and I had visions of great 2nd line 2 way center. SHATTERED!!!
What fails to be mentioned was that was his contract yr.. .. now he had a new one and proof. Back to the same way he has always played....
