Late night recap is up: http://www.nyrangersblog.com/2013-articles/september/oilers-5-rangers-3.html#livefyre_thread
I hope we play Nash, the Brassard line, Lindberg line all once before the end of the preseason, and our top 6 dmen
I am going to hope that when we have our full defensive roster... and everyone playing together it will be better than this because getting killed by the Oilers and Flames is unacceptable
5 on 3 .......and Oilers extend their lead?!
Am I the only one who sees how the dysfunction has not only been contained here....
But has been emphasized and amplified?
Torts is going to laugh so hard at the end of this season he won't even remember how to spell "Larry Brooks"
Please tell me I am a pessimist. Please tell me I am doom & gloom.
Please tell me this is just exhibition, just pre-season.
Please tell me it doesn't really mean or indicate ANYTHING.
But please tell me SOMETHING.
Because what I am watching right now is fvking pathetic.
alright ... no 3rd period for me, i think ... keep at it, fellas
root canal for me tomorrow ... root for me
This team better hope it can hang out around .500 while they're waiting for Step, Callahan and Hags to get back.
The Rangers PP is awful yet again... and their PK is awful too.... Brassard stayed on way to long... Lindberg needs some PP time
After a nightmare of a first period... Kreider has settled down and has looked much better (like him in front on the PP). Also love Lindberg on the PP with the extra space
Its all gunna b just fine when they do put a full starting squad on ice for final preseason game AV will be able to plug in a player here and there to c what's clicking that night this is going to be a solid team even w out 3 of our top players being out 2 to recovery from injury and 1 greedy agent
@4PennPlaza Ever watch the NFL preseason? How much of an indicator is that?
You're a pessimist.
This is still preseason.
It means NOTHING.
It means they're getting their legs, leaning a new system, learning to play with each other, and half these guys won't be on the final roster.
You can panic if Hags & Cally's rehabs go longer than expected and Stepan continues his holdout into the season, and 10 games in they still look like this.
I bet not...
@4PennPlaza the shorthanded goal wasnt because our PP was so bad just got caught by the guy out of the box... also still missing our second line and top center so lets give it a little while first
there you go
@AG_Blue good luck
@AG_Blue yuck. can't be worse than a Rangers 5 on 3 advantage!
@rangersfan if they are losing 4-1 to the flames they will be lucky to be 3-7
@AG_Blue He's really more of playmaker it seems
don't get ahead of yourself
@AG_Blue at least they were shooting the puck and had some possession time. the Rangers' failure on the 5-3 is maybe the biggest indictment of torts tenure
@AG_Blue Put LINDBERG ON!!!
@AG_Blue No sh!t. very interesting to see if AV has anything new. Already better!
Thank you DPSnotty.
Yes I've watched some of football pre-season.
But do you really see dysfunction like this even there?
I mean even the Broncos or the Pats?
Both of them still have pride.
But you are right, I should cool my "Jets"....(pun).....
Its only pre season. It's like All star Games? Or Winter Classics?
Right ..? RIGHT .?!?!............
It was also a fluke goal. Shot hit the post then bounced of Biron's back and into the net.
The Rangers have to be more decisive with their puck movement on the PP, but it didn't look too bad, especially considering our regular roster isn't out there yet. They won faceoffs and kept the puck in the offensive zone for the most part.
The team is definitely in a new place and it's a real opportunity. The team hasn't looked great, but we've seen much worse. The same could be said about Richards. I haven't quite seen the new, clean slate Richards, but at least he's on his feet most of the time -- he was on his knees so often last year.
Thank you "Free Lindberg". I feel a little better, although hard to breathe....
A team at this competitive level cannot allow themselves "mistakes" like that, especially having had a two man advantage for 90+ seconds.
College hockey (maybe) and the minors.....but not the NHL.....the Best League in the world.
Coach: "Look guys as the penalty expires their guy is gonna get out of the box, and he is going to be HIGH up in the trajectory. Capice?"
And....as I am typing this Eberle makes it 5-2.
absolutely, but sometimes he just can't buy a goal
yeah, it actually didn't look too bad, but they have to be more decisive with the puck.
your boy Brassard couldn't quite put something together and then ...
@4PennPlaza nope - All-Star games are a joke. Winter Classic counts, and is played 3 months into the season.
I don't know how much starters & guys fighting for position are mixed during NFL preseason; I think the starters usually all practice/play together during camp & games.
NHL preseason is a mishmash of starters, rookies, AHL lifers, sometimes all mixed up on lines together, different combinations even during preseason games. No time to build actual chemistry unless you're playing together for more that a few games...
Yeah, what I've seen so far hasn't impressed me, aside from flashes from some of the kids & guys like Moore, Brass, Zuc, etc. Richards & Nash have looked horrible; the rest of the regulars looking like they still need to get into game shape & learn a new system.
But I refuse to panic until it counts ;)
@4PennPlaza yea, just got to hope its better when our real guys are all together... Havent seen much, but we havent had our entire team on the ice on one night yet
true. we're used to being so good there. not sure we'll get back to the Boyle & Prust level.
simple signs of life on the pp though. win a faceoff, keep it in the zone, move it around. they're rather indecisive with the puck though
right. and Brassard was indecisive. the longer we hold the puck, the more it starts to look like standing around. it's okay for players to stay in a general area if they move the puck. and on a 5 on 3 that really makes the other team have to move. you can discombobulate them that way.
@AG_Blue would have liked to have seen Kristo shoot the puck there instead of passing down low. Otherwise, it was fair.
