According to Alain Vigneault, the Rangers captain Ryan Callahan will make his season debut Monday night in Los Angeles.
Callahan will likely start the game on the third line along with Brian Boyle and Taylor Pyatt. Which means Jesper Fast will be bumped out of the line-up.
"If it would have been up to him he would’ve played (in Phoenix) but this gives him almost an extra four days, including two days of contact in practice," Vigneault told the media. "He’s ready to go. He’s cleared to play."
...i don't think there was any chance Callahan wasn't going to play on Monday after the debacle in Phoenix. His energy and intensity is sorely needed.
...i get the idea of easing him back and not wanting to disturb the top two lines, but on a line with Boyle & Pyatt? How much better does that line look with Miller, who plays a similar game as Cally, instead of Pyatt?
...despite that, Callahan's biggest asset will be on the penalty kill, which did not look good in the preseason nor Thursday night.
...if the return of Callahan means the end of Fast in the line-up, I hope the Rangers assign him to the Wolf Pack so he gets a ton of ice time instead of rotting in the press box.
I have no evidence or proof when I say this but I would not be suprised if it's Sather making roster decisions and not AV. Just cannot believe AV would want to play Pyatt when it is so evident he is not suited to play his style of hockey.
Pratt should be gone I love cally but perfect world he is a 3rd line player getting lots of minutes on pp and pk and in def position with a lead
Pylon must be a great practice player. No matter how hard you try to create game speed in practice it just doesn't work. He probably busts his ass and looks great in practice when they are going "all out", but in the games the speed just keeps the play away from him. So he arrives a split second late and looks like the same player that just isn't "getting the breaks". I played with a lot of these types and when I was raised to leagues where the play was simply too good for me I WAS one of those types. Easy for a coach to get deceived while watching this. No excuse though....if your a professional NHL coach your JOB is to see that.
Alright! The Rangers are getting back their grit...all 5'10" 175 lbs of it!!!! Thank god! For a minute there I was worried that Sather had not properly addressed this glaring deficiency. Who's gonna muck it up in the corners with some snarl? CALLY! Who is gonna take and give a beating to get to that tough ice near the crease? CALLY! Who is going to stand up for his teammates? CALLY! Who is going to match the intensity of say...EVERY Bruin night in, night out? CAAAALLLLY!!!! (Sorry Cally, is this too much to expect?) SIZE, SPEED, GRIT! Sather this is your fault you craven fly-breeding douche maggot!
And idk what's worse, playing Cally with Boyle and Pyatt or the fact that Boyle and Pyatt are still playing???
While it's great to have Cally back, another poor job by the Rangers with Fast... What exactly was the point of keeping him with the squad from the start???
Why the fuck (excuse the language) is Pyatt still in the lineup.... What is AV smoking... I think everyone agrees this hunchback has no business on the ice.
@_Jack Lol...THAT is what you take out of that?? Effing brilliant.
