Habs Eyes on the Prize
Yes the refs blew, but we were 0 for 5 on the power play. We cannot keep up like this. For everyone saying it is a slow start, we have been shutout three times already! We are dead last in goals scored. Hank can pitch all the shutouts he wants but with no goals we still cannot win! Yes we are missing three big players but even when they get back we still will have to work on our chemistry!
I prayed tonight in hopes that I never see DelZotto QB another PP. He is so deliberate and easy to read for the opposition PKers. I love when he does his dramatic "head fake" or "fake shot" and not one PKer falls for it.
He needs to watch some video of Leetch to see how to fake out PKers at the point. Eh, forget it cause that's assuming he can even play to Leetchie's level, which is ludicrous.
What happened to the goals and Power Play that AV was supposed to bring... I thought thats what we fired Torts for...
Hags is playing against the Islanders.Hopefully he sparks the team against Vanek Taveres and the rest and we get a needed win.
new penalty kill strategy: have 2 of your own player run into eachother like idiots near the team on the pp, thus making it 4 on 4 and then generating a pp for your team. these refs should be fired. what a bunch of idiots. I love how both goals the Canadians scored were direct results of poor officiating. thanks for making us worse than we are NHL. I'm glad I spend my time and money watching this freaking garbage.
What the hell is going on with Nash why the silant treatment. If he's going to be out a long time so be it move on and pick up some more scoreing
Did Richey's new girlfriend break up with him? Does he have the flu? Damn he looked so good to start this season but he was MIA tonight. And Step??? Will the players never learn that holding out does not get you what you want and you wind up sucking after it all. MDZ was a promising young defenseman who has sucked ever since his holdout. Dubi was not the same and now Step? Damn - too bad Kreider didn't have any line mates - he played a hell of a game!
Refs sucked as much as Stralman, he had a case of the DZ's tonight. I thought Zucc was one of the best NYR forwards. Pyatt needs to be shown the door.
At least Kreider had another strong game. He looks like he's no longer lost out there, has good positioning, and is creating plays.
And the silver lining is that the NYR didn't play a bad game. And we gotta remember that this is still without Hags, Nash, & Cally (3 big pieces to scoring goals for this team)
and Hank looked like he's starting to round into form.
Wait a second - was Pyatt benched during the 3rd period? I know Zucc was moved up but I didn't see him??? Maybe there is a God after all...
Sorry, but refs hosed us on this one. Boyle should not have been called for a penalty. The MTL player was low to the ice and Boyle is a big guy. Dumb call. Kreider penalty, borderline, but still a soft call. It was incidental contact, and then the MTL player loses balance and takes his teammate out. Then finally, MTL kick-in goal, ridiculous. If they disallow Miller, than they should disallow this one, but the one thing consistent about the NHL and it's officiating, is that it's very inconsistent.
How about the over paid Stepan? It seems that we always over pay for middle of the road talent and over hyped players. The Rangers I'm afraid are doomed for the next few years. We need to unload some players......but who will partner with us for a trade? No team wants what we got!
They deep sixed Nash.......They don't even discuss him anymore. Like he doesn't exist. hell......he didn't even go to the game with the rest of the injured players. His melon must really be cracked.
How do all these backups step up against the rangers, the missed calls, the bad calls, the lack of goals and despite all of that it was still one of the better games they played and that's really not a good thing
Hate to say must win... but tomorrow night is as close as it gets to a must win game. Safe to say Hagelin will be back in... Also MIA Derek Stepan... guy is a ghost just like Dubinsky was after his holdout
The second so called goal and the bad calls don't matter. You can't win if you don't score goals. They gotta put the biscuit in the basket. They let a team who should have lost, win .They have to be able to score goals and they have to be able to take their game up a notch when necessary.
I think Rangers did a good effort. But Budja stood tall.
And that call on Boyle, and the goal by Galchenyuk !
They have to make a trade or something. Nobody on this team can put the puck in the net, it's absolutely ridiculous.
@shoot_the_goalie LOL - actually for DZ he played a good game. counted his mistakes on just one hand - most games I need a calculator.
@Trade DelZotto+Girardi4E.Kane yeah - predicted. He needs to play regular shifts. He looked good but not NHL yet. Pyatt may be losing favor though (again predicted by me a while ago and pleeeeze god may that prediction pan out) - where was he in the 3rd. Zucc got moved up to the 3rd line , presumably for offense down a goal but that wouldn't have happened a week ago
@Trade DelZotto+Girardi4E.Kane We fired Torts cause the players hated him.
@JustinRP37 wow thats funny... its exactly how he coaches too.
@Betweentheworlds I really don't think holding out causes you to play badly. PK Subban held out last year and ended up winning the Norris. Step is struggling cause he doesn't have a sniper playing with him (i.e. Gabby, Nash)
@BrendyJohnson Did you see Sinker in the 3rd? Zucc replaced him on the 3rd line - I don't know if he got any shifts.
@shoot_the_goalie Kreid did not move a muscle on that play and their player tripped over his leg - therefor no interference. I'm not one to blame the officiating for a loss and these guys need to learn how to score and win decisively but this was over the top poor reffing which mostly went against us all game.
@xanadu61 I say trade DZ for whatever you can get for him. He's expendable and has been expendable for a while now. I would say we should trade Girardi too. I like Dan G., but he's being exposed in AVs system. He looks slow and out of position a lot. However, he can still be very effective in a collapsing defensive system like Torts' system, and some other teams in the league.
@xanadu61 Last time that happened, the name was Sauer.
@Jercooks845 Cause the NYR since the early 2000s cannot score. Well, maybe that Jagr, Nylander, Straka line, but that's it.
@Trade DelZotto+Girardi4E.Kane Tomorrow is a must win. The season is young yes, but it is already starting to get into uh oh mode. We cannot get too far behind.
@JoeNYR and the call on Kreider... that took away brassard's breakaway and our PP
@JoeNYR Ever notice how all backups look great against us? The goalie could see every shot! Not enough traffic in front!
@shoot_the_goalie @Betweentheworlds Of course it's not a given that you will suck after a holdout, but facts are facts when it comes to those 3. Last year Step made every player better who played with him, sniper or otherwise. torts' line juggling proved that. It's early though. New coach, new system and all and Step will be there soon. I just wish he had been there at camp especially when in the end he did not get what he wanted
@shoot_the_goalie @xanadu61 Dan G was kind of quiet tonight - he looked good last couple games though but if you are looking at the current needs and assets of this club it makes sense and he might bring in some value. I wish they had traded DZ before he got exposed. Last year they might have gotten something for him given his age and "potential". He's another one who never got it going after a holdout. Let's hope Step breaks that pattern, and soon.
@Betweentheworlds @shoot_the_goalie @xanadu61 Yeah, I don't think MDZ has as much trade value as he used to. I think you could probably get a 2nd round pick for him with a 3rd line guy or 6-7 d-man thrown in. (which still might not be bad!)
DG has some value though for those teams that play a collapsing style. He's not a mobile defenseman, but he's smart and is good with his positioning. Make a trade with VAN? Torts would certainly love to have him back.
@Jercooks845 I just hope Sauer leads a normal life, even if there's no hockey in it. I mean, when you watch Marc Savard in interviews, it's scary to see what concussions can do to a person.
I really liked sauer, shame what happened to him hopefully the rangers are making sure he's being taken care of
