...the best thing for Kreider is probably for him to be down in Hartford, but with all the injuries and the Rangers lack of any kind of scoring threat, there really was no choice here.
...i just want to caution Rangers fans not to expect Kreider to be the savior, because if you do, I can guarantee you'll be disappointed.
...shrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. Ok now that I've gotten that out of the way. You guys obviously know about my obsession with Mashinter, but if I can be serious for a second, if he can play a hard nose, grind it out game that the Rangers are lacking he could be a huge asset going forward. I also think he has a real opportunity to become a crowd favorite, the way Avery and Prust were, if he can play with emotion and passion. He hasn't proven he can play at the NHL level yet, but I think he has the tools to succeed if he can stay within himself and not try to do too much.
Someone please help me here...... This is what Torts' said......“I know the reputation from the outside looking in,” he said. “When I wasn’t coaching here, and outside, everyone thought Vancouver dove and did some whining.”
Perhaps he was referring to whining over travel......perhaps whining over time zones.....perhaps whining over not enough time over the summer to get to know his players....,perhaps whining over not being able to say goodbye to all the nice folks in Vancouver......perhaps whining over how his present team doesn't compete? What does everybody think out there? O. K. well not everybody, perhaps just the whiners" can share their ideas.....PLEASE!
and i know i'm beating a dead SLATS here but how does sather still have a job? they should have been iterveiwing mess for the GM job!
kreider reminds me alexander daigle. talent but no grit or heart. too bad, he looked so good in those playoff games, i, just like most ranger fans, thought we struck gold...I do agree, i'd rather see him than pyatt, why is pyatt on this team? he's been useless since he got here, and boyles big 19 goals were a fluke, he'll never sniff 10 G's again. this team has more dead weight than Rosie Odonnel!
I agree Kreids may not be a savior but i would rather see his size and speed on the first line any day over pyatt, whom i would trade for a bag of practice pucks, love Mashinter brings some toughness we need as well.. i think kreider will be fine as long as he plays hard and uses the tools he has....
I vote for the World Junior line: Kreids, Step, Miller, and swap Kristo for Pylon while your at it...
I'm beginning to think that columbus is the only team that will trade with Sather, the rest just look at him and go "look there is an incompetent antique!"
I really think we all just need to boycott until Sather gets canned. He is turning us into a circus!
I'd like to see Kreider be given a legit and lengthy opportunity to show what he can do without the fear of demotion after a couple of bad plays. Its absurd how they have dealt with this kid especially now while we watch a bunch a group of men's league heroes glide around the ice. There is no reason to not have more kids up now and supporting the crap out of them. I don't know about the rest of you but I am embarrassed by this team. Forget the injuries...I understand we are slight in scoring...but friggin' try...get angry, throw a hit, possess the puck in the corner for more than 30 seconds, or yell at a referee. Just show us you give a crap.
Lol I think expecting a lot from Mashinter has a higher percentage chance of disappoibtment than Krieder...I know we all want to see the guy get in there and bang people but I don't know if he is capable of playing that kind of high passion game that Prust does
"For Kreider to ultimately be successful with the Rangers, he is going to have to play a much more confident game on the ice, essentially, play in games the way he practices because he can be really, really good and spectacular in practices. He is still a work-in-progress defensively but certainly has the skill to be a legitimate top-six forward for the team, something the Rangers are in short supply of right now with their injuries."
Let's hope he is really really good, and maybe even spectacular like the 2012 playoff run.
Someone brought it up below, and it got me thinking. You think Hugh Jessiman's future was derailed because of the changes to open up the game after the 2005 lockout? I mean, there were a bunch of players who became obsolete after the rule changes that tempered down all the clutching and grabbing. (i.e. Derien Hatcher, Darius Kasparatis, etc) Jessiman was not very fast, but the guy was big, if I remember, and had decent hands for his size. But you needed speed to play in the NHL after 2005, and that's something he sorely lacked. Thoughts?
I think Mash will do a good job now and could help alleviate a team wrakness and if Kried doesn't try too hard and over think he could add some spark. Huge opportunity for those guys. Grab it! Wonder what took so long
And btw to everyone that thinks its crazy... every time the Jets get killed this trade gets closer to coming to fruition :)
Still mystified why this team trades for Columbus's crap. Not exactly a model franchise if you know what I mean. I think this team would have had more balance if they kept Tyutin, Dubinsky, AA, Gaborik and Erixon.
Are the Rangers on the clock yet? This is gonna be an ugly season. Start trimming the fat, trade Henrik , Del Zero, Girardi, for some future #1's. As far Krieder , another bust....see Hugh Jessiman.
BTW - What is the pre-requisite to be a Ranger scout? Draft soft midgets with no speed?
I hope Mashinter has the talent to play. Reason Avery & Prust were so effective is that not only they had the grit and personalities, but they were actually good skilled players.
Saviour? How about hoping that he at least shows a sign that he's an NHL level player (which he won't, since he isn't).
there is also some weird possibility that Boyle and Lecavalier will either fight or get several coincidental minors.
flyers game is a good showcase for Mash and for hardnosed hockey from NYR in general. Dorsett is a lock to go with Rinaldo and Mash ought to lure Rosehill. That will keep those scumbags from lighting up Stepan for the 3rd or 4th time this year.
Wont win a game playing offensive attacking hockey when Boyle, Pyatt and Poiliet are what seems to be your top line and played most of the game.
Still don't know why Kristo isn't recalled. Has to be better than Fast. The kid is a scorer and we have none!
Finally.... Don't see y they were not recalled for the Devils game... Powe sucks and Pyatt does not belong on the first line. Idk what AV was smoking
The kid will be gone his attitude/work ethic just isn't there. He has undoubted tallent but that alone isnt enough. If torts didn't usr him now av hasn't used him until now (when he doesn't really have a choice) there has to be a reason
Wonder if this is Kreiders last shot to stick with the big club. Especially if the trade rumors are true
I'm sure you fapped as soon as you heard about Mashinter lol. But in all seriousness he is needed up here.
@AlNeri Dolan is guilty of MAN CRUSHES on people whom he thinks are great senior managers. It took a sex scandel for Dolan to let go of Isiah Thomas. He will never let go of Sather because he has a crush on him from his "successes" in Edmonton..........and Sather has limited sex appeal!.
I wonder if that has anything to do with JD running the show over there...even though howson was dealing with sather too...
@shoot_the_goalie thats a good point, but then why is boyle still here. big , slow, marshmellow, who had a fluke scoring year. But I still think your theory may be right.
Jessiman was a bad draft pick, he wasn't a first round guy and sather picked him up way to early! That's what derailed him, sather setting the wrong expectations about him
@shoot_the_goalie Jessiman's career was ultimate derailed in the minors by a series of bad ankle/foot injuries.
That would suggest that the comparison to the faster, more skilled Kreider (who skates in a different era) totally unfounded? You may be in to something there ;)
@Trade DelZotto+Girardi4E.Kane I, too would love to see Kane in Ranger Blue. My concern is that there is a greater chance of Kane developing under Torts, rather than under "The Whiner."
@stRangers fan Kreider may end up being a bust, but he is no Hugh Jessiman. Jessiman played 2 NHL games, whereas Kreider did score some pretty important GWG for the NYR in the playoffs.
I agree with you on possibly trading Girardi & DZ, but no to Henrik. Elite goalies are not easy to come by.
@stRangers fan its too bad because the draft is pretty weak this year... Last years was insanely deep... This year it seems like Sam Reinhart is the number one (a playmaking center) and after that it is pick your poison....
Would much rather tank next year and get Connor Mcdavid (the next Crosby is the word on the street).
@stRangers fan smurfs
If the team doesn't do well and henrik doesn't want to stay in ny, sather needs to know before the deadline so he can try to get some value for him.
