While he still refused to disclose the nature of his injury that kept him out of last night's game in Philadelphia. After taking shots from Rangers goaltending coach Benoit Allaire yesterday, Henrik Lundqvist did admit the injury occurred during the second game of the season against the Kings in Los Angeles.
Here's Lundqvist on the progress of the injury (via New York Post)...
“I would be out there [if this were April],” the goaltender said before the Flyers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers. “There are ways to hide it and help out with the pain. It’s something I could play through.
“But the season is long and you have to be smart about it. I want to make sure this [treatment] pays off.”
Lundqvist said the four game break in between games was the perfect opportunity to clear this issue up.
He's not sure if he'll be available to play tomorrow night in Detroit.
...so, does that mean it's not the contract or the smaller pads? Wonder when the rest of the team is going to start faking injuries to excuse their poor play as well.
...in all seriousness, this obviously explains a lot and Rangers fans should be excited to see the real Lundqvist going forward.
...although, Lundqvist better get back soon before Talbot continues his strong play and makes the "King" expendable.
Its late and idk if anyone will see this.... but where the fuck is Rick Nash? I am just assuming he is out for the season... thats the way it seems to be breaking. The scary part of that hit is that my grandmother could have taken it and not gotten hurt, which says a lot about how concussion prone Nashty is...
Hank wasn't strong early last season either - injury or not. I kind of remember something from the LA game where he shook something off but don't remember what area - maybe hip or leg?
Hank isn't playing tomorrow... Don't think it will be as easy of an outing for cam tomorrow. I can see him getting lit up if the same team shows up.
enough with the Injury excuses for playing bad. Don't want to hear it. Suck it up buttercup and PLAY hockey.. If shit doesn't start turning around then its time to shitcan that "hands off" coach and get someone in that can turn the team around..
Boooo on your comment of faking an injury. None of it will matter unless they Fire Sather! It starts with him. Half the team wouldn't play on the top 10 teams in the league. Hank won't sign anything unless significant changes are made and who can blame him
I for one hope they wait to the end of the year to sign him to a LTC. Let's see what he does as the team is not playing defensive hockey like it was under Torts. So far Hank looks like Swedish cheese.
Kev, please cut the LOL stuff. It makes me feel like I'm reading my niece's text messages and trust me, you don't want that.
@messier It was sarcasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@xanadu61 Thank you, I'll be here all night.
Another idea, Kevin: Maybe you could keep your comments in blue, but without italicizing them. That way if you're being sarcastic and really feel like you need to drop a hint to some of these knuckleheads you could throw it in italics. Still don't think anything is necessary, but another option.
@stets99 Only reason I do it is to indicate sarcasm. I can't tell you how often I get criticized by people who don't always get my humor.
Maybe I'll start doing "Ha!" instead.
