Due to injuries and subpar play from the Blueshirts, many Rangers fans have been calling for reinforcements from Hartford. While Chris Kreider, JT Miller and Brandon Mashinter have already been summoned there are a few other prospects who fans would like to see in a Blueshirt as well.
Unfortunately, for those of you looking for a Danny Kristo call-up, Leslie Treff at Hockey's Future warns not to hold your breath as she reports that he's expected to spend the entire 2013-14 season with the Wolf Pack, but that Kristo should compete for an NHL roster spot next fall.
However, Treff adds that Dylan McIlrath (2010 - 1st) could get a look in New York later this season, but should be a regular in the NHL next season.
Treff praises McIlrath for his improved positioning and shot this season.
...i wonder how much the plan for Kristo changes if Nash is out for an extended period of time and the offense continues to struggle. Especially if Kristo continues to light it up in Hartford (4g, 3a in six games).
...as far as McIlrath goes, you all know my disappointment with the Rangers inability to stand up for one another. McIlrath would change that on day one. And if Treff is correct about the former first rounder's improved play this season, then my concerns about him not being fully developed will be quelled as well.

And anybody else think the Sedin twins will be here next year under AV? I didn't think it would happen, but more and more, I start to think it's a possibility.
I say bring up DM. Personally, I don't think he's near NHL ready, but the kid seems like a really good kid, he'll add toughness, and maybe actually getting his "cup of coffee" will do wonders to his confidence if they bring him in slowly and handle him properly. He may get burned a couple of times (like we saw in preseason) but it could really help the kid out too in his development. And if he's really struggling, send him back down, no harm.
If McIlrath is playing as good as reported then thats good news for the Rangers cause of course he'll bring real toughness to the team, and go after people.He''ll definitely help prevent deliberate injuries to our players.
Here's a kid that is putting up great numbers in the AHL and more than showed he could hold his own in the preseason. How can these tool bags writers know we won't see him? And that's terrible management if he's been told this or even been hinted this already... Why wouldn't he just get a "hamstring" injury and save himself for next year if this was the case... Funny cause every other team in the NHL has zero problem bringing up young players and teaching them the game... Must be good coaching and organizational teaching...
But who would McIlrath be replacing is what I want to know.... I think Girardi. He's been down-right horrible this season.
Mashinter and McIrath's presence would certainly change the team's toughness for the better. I'm still unconvinced that either of them can play -- although Mash showed signs in his last preseason game. If this team is shooting for respect from other teams, this would go a long way. As far as winning goes, well, it couldn't get worse, I guess.
@PenaltySh0t Del Zotto?
@gravey94 According to Treff it sounds like he's getting close. Which is exciting.
@FREE MASHINTER he cant be worse than MDZ.
@FREE MASHINTER and if he is, then give him some rope to sort it out. COACH HIM
