I've been pretty tough on the Rangers this season for not sticking up for one another, so I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Derek Doresett's contribution in Philly on Thursday night.
First, after witnessing Flyers resident douchebag Zac Rinaldo trying to catch Ryan McDonagh with an elbow as he skated through the neutral zone...
...Dorsett did this...
...for those of you who think retaliating doesn't discourage opponents from taking further liberties, let me ask you this. Did you see Rinaldo pester another Ranger the rest of the night? Exactly.
Then in the second period, Dorsett watched Wayne Simmonds take a couple of extra shots on Brandon Mashinter after the fight was seemingly over and was none too happy about it...
...i really liked the energy both Dorsett and Mashinter brought to the game with that incident. Unfortunately, less than two minutes Pouliot took that careless boarding penalty and any momentum the Rangers might have gained was all but quelled.
...the Rangers obviously still lost the game, but I was very encouraged by this change of attitude. Baby steps my friends, baby steps.
my favorite part about the Mashinter-Simmonds scrum was Dorsett does nothing particularly offensive (physically at least), gets jumped by that pus Coburn, and then gets penalized. I don't understand.
Thank you for posting this ray of light. I missed 95% of the game and this is the only clips I've watched. Loud crowd, passions and fists flying...I'll take it...everything else sucks though.
Really wish Mashinter had connected at the :43 second mark.
I think Dorsett took exception to Simmonds trying to use the dasher to his advantage.
