Pierre LeBrun at ESPN.com is concerned that the Rangers don't have a viable Plan B for their backup goaltending situation after Marty Biron was placed on waivers and wonders if Ilya "Universe" Bryzgalov could be the answer...
"Given the belief that Lundqvist will at some point sign an extension with the Rangers, it would seem Bryzgalov represents a more likely option in terms of upgrading the team’s goaltending depth, and the idea of Bryzgalov on Broadway would make for some interesting times."
...i really don't even know where to start with this. Yes, having a backup goaltender with zero NHL experience isn't the most ideal situation, but it's still better than this...
...not only would this be a humongous big disaster on the ice, I can't imagine Bryzgalov's antics would be received well in the locker room.
...having said that, as a blogger this guy would be content gold.
there are more bryz supporters than i thought! dont get me wrong he used to be a great goalie...maybe he could get his head straight and get back on track? idk...i doubt it. id feel bad for hank having to deal with this guy!
The Youuuuuneeeeverse needs to be on one of those "small market" teams where the media won't eat him alive...A New York team is NOT that.
Can we get Beezer back? He still looks like he's in pretty good shape.
Seriously, I don't have enough vodka in my freezer to deal with Bryz (and there's a LOT of vodka in my freezer).
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. As much as I miss Bryz being in the NHL for entertainment purposes, I will find ZERO entertainment value with him in a blueshirt.
Please no. Haven't we suffered enough this season???
if av thought Schneider and Luongo was a disaster with the media just wait until he has to answer questions about Bryz! ugh how are we only 5 games into the season!?
John Moore playing the point on top Pp. AV did something smart. Even with all the defensive issues moore has looked good when not having to cover for del Zaster
I do not want Bryz on the NYR, but he's not as bad of a goalie as everyone makes him out to be. He's not great, but he's not terrible either. He's struggled, but it's not like the PHI were very interested in playing defense, let alone hockey. There's a reason why they have a rotating carousel of goalies who go there and struggle.
i thought sather wanted to move away from front page sports quotes when he fired torts? bryz would just bring comedy to the headlines instead of animosity!
Bryz has gotten a bad Rao bc of the "universe".....
Frankly is love to have this maniac as a back up and there was a reason the Flyers signed him to a long term deal..... He's a decent goalie.
Ilya SwissCheeseGov?... Not gonna happen... Gotta say I got a good laugh watching that montage video of him embarrassing himself....
I did read the article. Just the mere thought of this is mind boggling. Why would they even consider it?
It's just ESPN speculation people, I think the organization is going with Talbot for now. ESPN is just naming the most note worthy goalie available, you know, like how some irrational fans wanted Ruff for coach after he was fired just because he was available.
The guy loses ONE f**king game, they put him on waivers, now they wanna replace him with Bryz? WTF is Dolan and Sather smoking?
HBO gave him a bad bad rap. I don't want him on my team just from the show, but lets be serious he's a big time goalie. Biron was Hanks personal bench bartender and team clown, Bryzgalov could be a great back up goalie.
I wondered the same thing to myself as soon as Biron was waived and then I came to and said, "Nah, there's no way."
@Dennis Cronin That's the point, there is NO indication that the Rangers are considering. Zero. None. This is literally Pierre LeBrun trying to meet his article quota for the week.
@Dennis Cronin What? This is speculation by LeBrun at ESPN with ZERO indication that the Rangers are actually interested in Bryz. The article was about possible suitable locations for Bryz and Ryan Miller. At least read the article.
