While Justin Falk allowed an odd man break after getting caught too deep in the Bruins zone on the eventual game winner against last night, it was John Moore who did a horrific job not reading that Mats Zuccarello had negated the two-on-one by catching up to Brad Marchand racing down the center of the ice, allowing Shawn Thornton to skate right in on Henrik Lundqvist and shelf one home short side.
This is just one of a number of defensive miscues coming from the former Blue Jacket recently that have gone virtually unnoticed by the Rangers fanbase who have saved most of their vitriol for Michael Del Zotto.
Well, I guess Alain Vigneault has taken notice as he suggested today that Moore might be headed to the press box tomorrow night in Dallas.
Moore skated with J.T. Miller as the extra defensive pair at practice today while Del Zotto was paired with Falk.
This obviously would mean a return to the lineup for the embattled Del Zotto. Can you say showcase?
...it might have been his great preseason or his two unexpected but impressive fights as a Ranger, but for some reason Moore has quietly escaped the wrath of Rangers fans this season, despite being inconsistent at best.
...i have to assume it's because we've all been preoccupied with Del Zotto's awfulness that Moore's equally inept defense has slipped passed us. However, with Del Zotto banished to the press box the last three games, Moore's struggles have been front and center.
...i still believe the 23-year old has a lot to offer and can be a major contributor for this team, but a few nights watching from the press box might not be the worst thing.
...i'd definitely be a fan of seeing Falk back in there as he continues to bring a physical presence including a bone crushing hit on Lucic early in the first period last night.
all falk brings is toughness..i recall 3x him trying to make a breakout pass and hitting a bruin within a couple feet of him...keep moore stratch falk
Other than McD, all of our D have been a disappointment this year. One of the problem with our scoring is that our D have not been creating very much at all, not getting shots through, etc.
He's but he is slow (Falk) and slow to read plays. Could he have taken a stride or reached to knock the pick back into the zone that led to the goal. I agree with sitting Moore but hello where is Ulf. He has 7-8 players to work with. Spend your time with those who need your help. Step up Ulf. Ottawa wants DMZ. Trade him for Neal
Moore deserves to be scratched. Still a young kid, but he's gotta learn. Totally inept in the defensive zone. Del Zotto has been BETTER than Moore, IMO, this season.
Fans don't want to admit it, but right now, Del Zotto is a much better player than Moore
Let AV coach. Accountability is good. You make too many mistakes, you sit and watch. End of discussion. Moore and Pouliot have made the most mistakes recently, so they are getting ready to sit in the press box. Makes perfect sense to me.
For the record, I couldn't care less about MDZ. Stay and be a bottom pair D-man or get traded for similar value.
Put MDZ in at forward and take out Pouliot or bench Dorsett for his back to back minors that caused us huge minutes in the 2and period.
Sorry. Moore is still a better skater and stronger than Moore. The mistakes and trust on MDZ are far greater than that of Moore. I disagree.
I think everyone forgets how bad DZ is since he hasn't been on the ice in 3 games... The defense hasn't been the problem since DZ was taken out... why mess with it? JUST PUZZLING
@weregnalose I was there last night...Falk can't make a good pass period.
@cb1 I think Staal's eyesight is worse than he or the NYR lead us to believe, thus why Staal looks average.
@PenaltySh0t DZ also playing on the wrong side... let's see if he can pick up his game playing left side again... DZ was not great but somehow is always the worst ranger for the fans...
The 2nd one was bad but you're going to get from him. He plays on the edge. DZ is going to light it up on the blue line if he plays.
@MiddleSwine This is the main issue. Hank reminds me of Beezer a little bit. Make incredible saves all night and then miss one or two simple ones.
@MiddleSwine totally agree
No Del Zotto has a higher ceiling but Moore is a better skater and just competes. He isn't affraid to shoot the puck. Del Zotto was supposed to be a top 4 defenseman when drafted and PP QB
@supermaz and totally agree!
@supermaz and his defensive ones... which are a lot more important
@KreiderisTheChosenOne I think AV has been equally as unhappy with Moore's play as well. Or maybe the Rangers are looking to showcase Del Zotto.
@Centerman21 Just like he usually does......oh wait....
@GetTheKingACup @MiddleSwine Maybe we should bench Hank and start Talbot the whole season (sarcasm)... The problem is our lack of scoring. Henrik has carried the Rangers night in and night out. If the Rangers would of scored some goals we would all be talking about how great he is and how stupid Sather is for not getting him a contract yet.
@Kevin DeLury @KreiderisTheChosenOne We have given up 3 goals in the last 3 games... be happier if he sat one of the forwards for Miller... The defense isn't what needs a shakeup. Besides one or two mistakes it has been a well-oiled machine and one of the best units in the league of late... especially since DZ was taken out
