So this happened during the Hartford Wolfpack's 6-0 loss to the Providence Bruins last night...
...Stajcer has been beyond disappointing since the Rangers drafted him in 2009 to possibly be Lundqvist's heir apparent, but I've gotten a new found respect for the guy after this.
...also got to give props to McIlrath for holding back and not absolutely destroying the guy he was fighting with.
...don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Rangers in one of these brawls. You know, as long as Lundqvist isn't involved.
Whats to love? Fights are for me, probably my least favorite part. How can we pretend to care about head injuries, and concussion, and then turn around and condone 220 lb. guys punching themselves in the face? It is hypocritical thinking to condone fighting in hockey. To me it is just wrong.
Goalie fights are a classless spectacle of ridiculousness. This isn't the 70's. Hockey has elevated to a higher skill level, and goalies are prized assets. If any of our goalies at the NHL level got into a fight I'd bench them for 10 games to make a point. That being said, I am happy with the grit we have shown of late (krieder specifically) and think that in this day and age, physical play is important. But let's be serious .. if Lundqvist, Stepan, or Nash got into the habit of fighting you'd all hate it.
Right before this meleee, Conor Allen got clocked in a fight and the Wolfpack players were not very happy...at least that is what the video showed. In fact, I think that is Bickel skating by the Bruins penalty box.....and then all of this happened. Earlier in that game as well, Haley got knocked around pretty good--took a solid right to the eye socket....
Ha! Half those guys looked like they just wanted the misconducts to get the night over with...
Looked like they went after it right off the puck drop. Any one know what started it? Or just the fact it was 6-0?
Moore will be back in the lineup on Saturday. Interesting to see if they send Miller down (feel like he has been playing well the last 2 or 3 games) or Mashinter...
Goalie fights always remind me of Timmy vs. Jimmy. I'd post video but it's just wrong on so many levels....yet hysterical!
I think that dude McIlrath was fighting is going to send him a car for Christmas because he could have really effed him up there. BTW, that was the most civilized on ice brawl I've ever seen. Everyone just stopped and went to their respective corners when it was done.
Safe to say the Wolfpack are terrible since losing Kreider, Miller, Mashinter and Talbot... Don't think Kristo is even close to ready this year... pretty sure he was a -2 last night
Thats why I said "the habit of fighting" lol. But yes, your point is valid, and I agree, actually. I think Nash was frustrated that he was playing with guys up to that point who were softer than safety blanket cotton. He's a former captain, so he probably figured "Oh crap. This is my team and it has a sorely missing element ... let me show the way". It's a shame really, because the more physical his play gets, the worse the potential downside of injury. It should be a wakeup call that we need more grit.
@messier I don't like that idea, i absolutely love that idea of sending down Delzaster.
He probably felt someone pulling him out of the pile and was like "not mcillrath. (Crosses fingers) NOT MCILL...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!...find a happy place...find a happy plaaaaace......"
Hey, that sounds like something. Can't wait to see how he does.
@KreiderisTheChosenOne also fast out with a injury
