While things couldn't have gone better for the Rangers on the ice at MSG last night, unfortunately, they received some bad news from Hartford as Jesper Fast had to be helped off the ice after suffering a sprained ankle during the Wolfpack's 3-2 loss to Springfield.
Wolfpack play-by-play man Bob Crawford noted that Fast was not putting any weight on his leg when he left the ice.
Two years ago, Fast suffered a gruesome foot injury while playing in Sweden. Here's video of that injury...
...with the way the Rangers have been playing, I'm not sure if we would have seen Fast back up with the big club this year anyway, but if this is a long term injury it'll obviously have a negative effect on his development going forward. Let's just hope it's not too serious.
In a piece of good news from Hartford, Danny Kristo picked up his 8th goal in 12 games during the loss.
Pat Leonard at the Daily News feels that with the Rangers scheduled to play the Ducks and Penguins this week, it wouldn’t be surprising to see either Kristo or Marek Hrivik get a call-up.
Kristo goal at 2:08 mark...
...with Pyatt having another God awful game last night, you have to assume the chances of Kristo being recalled are becoming greater by the day.
I would say only bring up Kristo if he's going to play on the 3rd line. I have to say, I'm worried that once Cally and Moore are back, it will be Mashinter and Miller getting the boot from the lineup and not Pyatt. Just a gut feeling .. a bad one at that. Now if we they were to call someone up to replace Pyatt, would rather they call up Haley and move Dorsett to the 3rd line.
Another scorer on the lines might be interesting. Kristo has been consistently scoring in AHL. We should consider calling him up.
@King For Cup also he is not a 4th line player... and right now there is not a place in the top 6 or maybe even top 9 for him
@King For Cup His defensive play is bad, not TRULY awful, but pretty bad. And he doesn't score enough to make up for it unfortunately. Though if we must call him up, I wont argue.
