As we all know, John Tortorella isn't the biggest fan of the post game press conference. So after being peppered by questions for over seven minutes he decided he needed some help (7:14 mark)...

...absolutely hysterical. What's ironic is that was the most comfortable and forthcoming I've seen Torts during a post game presser since he's become the head coach of the Rangers.
...and while the reporters found it amusing, you can be assured that Torts was dead serious about wanting the questions to stop.
...thought last night was one of Torts' better coaching peformances with the Rangers. With Powe going down, he recognized the need to utilize his entire line-up, which rewarded him with some stellar play from the bottom six. And while I was screaming for Torts to split the Nash-Stepan-Cally line, he deserves a ton of credit for his patiance with the Rangers top trio. And it obviously paid off with Stepan's winner.
The only reason it got to the 7:14 mark was because Torts wasn't staring daggers at the media members. HAHA.
Well it looks like Clowe will fit right into the lineup for Powe in game 4, but idk what the lines will be it seemed like Torts loved Boyle last night.
I tought all the same things. I was surprised he was so forthcoming. Though almost every time he has gotten combative or has exploded at the media is after a loss. He takes losing hard so he is emotional after a loss. I also didn't think he was kidding either & I watched it a few times. I did see a smile as he was walking off. As for his coaching over the past few days I said on this blog that he needed to make adjustments & he will. He can b stubborn about some things ie; Richards on the PP among others, however he adjusts/corrects mistakes as a series goes along. As demanding & caustic as he can be he can also be encouraging. Ever notice he is sometimes positive when U think he is going to explode? He is positive when he needs to be cause he has a good feel for his team. He was positive and calm after we fell down 2-games to none. Lots of people on this blog were panicking & throwing in the towel. also I was listening to the 1st period on the radio on my way home from my daughters practice & Don Lagreca was in between the benches & he said after we went down 1-0 he went down the bench telling every guy stay positiveHe is a good coach. I know he has alot of critics & they are right about some things but he is a damn good coach. He knows what it takes to win a Cup & has done it. We get the right pieces in place & we will win a Cup w-him as our voach.
I died when I watched this last night. I love this man. He also said "bless you" when a reporter sneezed. Who says the guy isn't a charmer? :)
I love that he has that Walter Matthau quality to him that he could be irritated but still say it in a way that makes you know he has a good humor about it. It's a shame he doesn't deflect like this all the time. Sometimes he comes across as hateful or spiteful and that turns these guys against him, and they're just doing what they are paid to do.
Meant to write "Lagreca said " Torts went down the bench telling every guy to stay positive keep working & we will get it back". Lots of coaches would panic in that spot. It was an important moment. We could have gotten discouraged and thats how series get away from teams. Instead we roared back. Thats good coaching
