Rock the Red
Scary fact of the night: the entire Rangers team has only combined for one more point in the 2013 Playoffs that Wade Redden so far...
PP had been brutal since 1994. Until we get a PP QB it won't change. Until we get howitzer on the point it won't change. Green was in prime real estate on that goal and wasted no time and fired away. I'm sick of our pass the puck around the rozy for two minutes. Our inept PP charged the Caps and we never recovered.
so our one goal in the series was a complete fluke? anyone want to realize that hahaah. Could easily have 0 goals in two PLAYOFF games
Seriously last thing, the "Power-less play is back" You would think torts would try Brassard back on the first unit, the only time they ever had success... guess not. Sullivan is a fucking moron
Tell me, how was what dorsett brought today any different than what Avery brought? That's not a knock against the guy, I loved Avery and really liked that dorsett played on the edge. We have a coach who makes arbitrary decisions and lets his ego get in the way of coaching this team...how else explain breaking up lines that are hot or leaving Richards on the Nash Line well into the second when anyone could see nothing
Torts postgame looked like he knew it was already over, and he just wants to see who he was keeping for next year... this guy should be beheaded.
Sorry but i had to say it, Mcdonagh, a guy that competes every night... where the hell was your head at right there. Man do i miss Marc Staal
Last thing Hank got the 1st star in a loss, if that doesnt tell you how good he was then you don't know hockey. He stole one tonight, that is how bad the Rangers team sucks. DZ is a fucking nightmare, and Torts finally put Moore up... as for Mac, have been saying all year he has regressed a little. That is a play he never makes last year.... EVER
Hank has a .941 save percentage, and a 1.90 GAA. On any other team he is up 2-0, at worst 1-1. The NYR and John Tortorella deserved to be burned at the stake
Great comment "The refs did not hand this game to the capitals. Lundqvist handed it to the Rangers, but they didnt accept it." Story of his career
My prediction: Hank bolts after next year if torts is still around, to go to a team that can actually compete... and not just rely on him
All you guys can quabble about that delay of game penalty, which was a penalty (Rangers vs. the World), but this team is a fucking joke. I wouldn't trade Rick Nash for Gaborik, but the guy is a grade A choke artist. Lets see 0-6 in the playoffs with 1 goal and 2 assists. Not only is he a joke, but the team and the coaching is pitiful, besides Hank. One goal in two games.... ONE GOAL IN TWO GAMES!!!! AGAINST HOLTBY! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME! Stepan has all but disappeared same for Brassard, really everyone. Clowe and Staal are not the answer for this, the Rangers just flat out suck. Idk why Kreider wasnt playing today lets load up with more guys that cant score like Powe, when they score on every other PP any way, its a joke. And the main clown is Tortorella, find a way to score a goal or get the fuck out of NY. They may win the two games at home, and even the series (which I doubt), but lets not kid ourselves they are not going anywhere near the stanley cup. And I am starting to doubt they ever will with Nash... HE IS A GRADE A CHOKE ARTIST!
This team is all heart and no desire. I gotta admit, if no ones going to score then hank can't let anything in. I hate Holtby. If I could I would spit on him. He's so dipped in it it's unbelievable. Lets see if we could win one...JEEEEEEEEEZE THIS IS GETTING OLD!!!
Terrible PP continues to not only convert, but also hand Washington momentum. Unbearable to watch. McD knew it the second the puck left his stick that it probably cost them the game. Nash continues to show up one period per game.
So all the "season starts now" talk for the Rangers is pretty well dead on. They are back to playing exactly how they did at the beginning of the season, no hustle, no speed, and NO SCORING. Bravo Torts, hope you enjoy your last year in NY next year.
Lines that are hot??? And which ones are those? Did we score like 5 in game 1 or Smthg? Did he break up a juggernaut line from game 1? He's trying to generate something and can feel the pulse of his players better than anyone on this board can.
@jrj2109 difference you ask? Torts hated Avery. He picks favorites, and it is his flaw as a coach. Why else would DZ be getting 20 minutes a game all year...
@Josh6 MAybe the fact that he was on the ice for almost two minutes straight. Torts to blame for that, and for using the the same 7 or 8 players for the whole OT.
@Josh6 Not to say you aren't right in a lot of ways but quit the whining. If Nash puts that puck in with 4 minutes left you have no case here.
That being said, this team, offensively, is scary bad. For a team with this much offensive talent, this is probably as bad as it can get. The scary thing to me was hearing Tortorella say something like "in terms of offense, you know, I don't really have any business telling them what to do when they carry the puck in." That is disturbing, you are the coach, and considering they look more dangerous in a 5-4 then we do in a 5-3, we have serious, serious issues. Tortorella will get one more year either way, but good god, they need someone to come in and fix the offense
You do realize that the playoffs are different. You gameplan for your opponents best players. Ovechkin has one PP goal, even strength they have played ovechkin well. In the playoffs it's usually not the stars that score. The rest of the team has to step up. Not to mention, the caps are a good team with the MVP and scoring champ on it. And they are the hottest team in the NHL. I think the PP is the main problem. We need to score there.
@Josh6 You all know how I feel about Nash, but I do think he tried a bit more than the other first liners today. He had great chances, but needed some more help. Nobody was ever there for rebounds or anything.
@johnnyb3910 WHICH PERIOD WAS THAT? I havent seen him score yet? isn't that why we brought him in? Gaborik produced more in the playoffs... and he did not do much to begin with
@Josh6 Does Sullivan dictate the power play? If so he has to be fired this off-season. Disgusting.
Avery was a jack ass and bounced around the league for a reason. So I guess Detroit LA Dallas know Smthg torts didn't? There's a reason no one wanted him.
@ivanricov you know what Hank is saying to himself right now? "is this a joke? The Rangers fucking suck." Hank is a separate team, literally. He has created his own little island. Without Hank the Rangers would be in the lottery right now, and would have lost 5/6-0 today. The team that is in front of him is an embarrassment... I dont know if it is coaching or talent but something has to change
@ivanricov so are the New York Rangers... we had a month where we could score, but that was to good to be true
3rd period he was our best forward on the ice, in terms of scoring chances, which isn't saying much. He played better with Step and Cally, who are our only two forwards that are playing at a playoff level. These are the playoffs, you can play well and still go for shifts with out any chances. The difference is momentum, and when only 1 line is working, there is no momentum. Our D is doing a good job limiting Ovechkin and our PK hasn't been terrible, but the difference is our 2nd and 3rd lines have been invisible, and every time Step and Cally step on the ice they're starting from nothing.
@DuPont_Snotty @Josh6 @dsclaw88 The fact that he could be, the only Ranger in history that was capable of scoring on the PP, so clearly he knows what is needed. Not to mention he already comes in for MSG to analyze. Leetch is a great hockey mind, and the way he used to play for us on the PP and as a defensman, I am confident he could coach both of those areas successfully...
@johnnyb3910 our scoring ability has been less than desirable
The puck turned on edge at the last second, but his exhaustion, combined with the team being completely unable to exit their own zone in OT is what led to that penalty.
I've noticed in both of these games, the Rangers put a winger on the far boards every time we get possession behind our own net. It's supposed to be an easy first pass, but the Caps forechckers are just going right to that guy, and suddenly the D Man with the puck is on his own.our execution all series has been less than desirable
@Josh6 @DuPont_Snotty McDonough didn't lose that game. He played his balls off and made shitty a mistake (probably because he was exhausted). I can't put that game on him. This team can't put the puck in the net - even when it's handed to them on a platter.
I knew as soon as they didn't score, and the caps got a pp on the same type of penalty it was over - that's poetic.
@ivanricov o wait no they wouldnt... because we dont have a first round pick lol, silly me what was I thinking
@johnnyb3910 our first line has been invisible also... they have 1 goal, and it was a fluke goal at that
