Dan Rosen at NHL.com reports that Henrik Lundqvist said he experienced some discomfort in his left shoulder after making a save on Daniel Paille with 4:52 remaining in the third period during yesterday's 5-2 loss to the Bruins in Game 2.
"It's my shoulder, we'll see. We'll take a look at it."
...well that's not exactly what I wanted to hear this morning. The fact that he was able to finish up the game and Jim Ramsey never came out to check him has me at least a little optimistic.
...if Lundqvist isn't able to go in Game 3, this team is obviously finished. With Lundqvist not at the top of his game so far in this series, the Rangers have been exposed as the mediocre team that they are. He covers up for a ton of defensive miscues and giveaways on a gamely basis, so when he plays like a mere mortal this team has no chance. And no offense to Biron, but he can't be the eraser Lundqvist is.
...besides the shoulder injury, Lundqvist looks run down and tired in this series. He's just not as crisp as he normally is. I guess 23 straight starts will do that.
Here's post game video of Lundqvist, which includes him flexing his sore shoulder...
you guys are wishful thinking if you think biron can step into Hanks skates. He played 5 games all season and can't possibly be in playoff shape
Disagree on a couple points. The Rangers are not a mediocre team. Having said that they are playing like one. I don't think this coach has understood this team like he understood last year's. I'm still waiting for him to make the proper adjustments to the Bruins the way he did in the Caps series (hint: The Bruins squad is more suited to the style of play Torts is trying to use than we are. Every team is different and a good coach needs to be a "chess player" who is willing to modify his system and make proper adjustments to exploit the other teams weaknesses rather than playing to their strengths) - also I disagree that the Rangers are through if Biron is in. Granted it would harder but Biron is a solid back up and an NHL goalie. LGR.
Hmm...Lundqvist has a bad shoulder? Must be all that heavy lifting he does, since he's carried the entire team into the playoffs and through round one. I hope the rest of the team realizes what he's sacrificed for them and actually shows up to game 3.
What happened to not talking about injuries? Expect a lot of shots up high to the side he flexed in the video... I'm thinking this is one I could have waited until after the playoffs to hear about.
I'm surprised no ones mentioned how bad delzotto is, staal was having an off year because of deldildo then girardi who rarely has a bad game gets put with him and they become skating minuses. When's torts going to see to common variable here, the kids a nightmare and hopefully when torts gets the boot he can take that little puss with him along with mike Sullivan's power play.
Biron is still pretty good, he's just not what Hank is, which is as we know, the best in the world. Pretty obvious we're done if Hank can't go. Either way, we'll see.
They may be finished anyway. Never in NHL history has a team gone down (giggity) 0-2 in consecutive series and come back to win them both.
Biron would actually probably shine if he was put in, he could carry a series he's pretty good .Hope Hank is ok or Rangers are likely done tho if Rangers go to EC final.
It is gut-wrenching to follow this team at times and this is one of those times. Even if we win the cup (gotta be 1000000 to 1 odds now if hanks out, right?) there are some huge changes that need to be made to our bottom six. One of those changes is to either trade ( don't hold your breath) or buy out Richards. If he is this bad after only 57 games then what is he gonna be like in a full season!? I think Pyatt is stuck here but he's prooving to be worthless if he can't generate offense from the boards. Also, I hate to say it but DZ's return is dropping rapidly and if we want to get anything good for him we might have to unload him this offseason. Take part of Richards money and sign Clowe back. Get Miller and Kreider NHL ready and try again. This post is not an admission of defeat, but it is an admission that things have to change. And Richards is the big one for me. At this point I don't see how he stays. His game is shameful.
Wow, if he doesnt play tomorrow this would have to be the biggest game of Biron's career. However, I doubt Hank doesn't play, but he has to be way better if we want a chance to come back in this series, and this injury is not making me optimistic
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG I disagree about Pyatt. The dude is slower than a slug but he is really strong on the puck and effective with board work. Good riddance to Richards and DZ though!
@Josh6 He played for the Flyers in the ECF, so no it would not be the biggest game of his career IF he had to play.
I think he plays. It would have to be broken for him not to play. And even then I think you'd see on of the dmen stand in the crease with him all game helping him lift his arm to make saves, while the rest of the team skates short handed.
I said we're stuck with Pyatt. He doesn't offend me. But when he doesn't have the playmaking ability to compliment his board play. It like, he wins a board battle and then doesn't know what to do with the puck so he just takes it back to the boards haha
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG haha fair enough.
