During today's brief practice, Chris Kreider was the first guy on the ice and and the last off as he did skating and shooting drills on his own, likely preparing himself to re-enter the Rangers line-up in Game 6 tomorrow for the injured Ryane Clowe, who did not practice today along with Darroll Powe (concussion).
Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record notes that John Tortorella said the coaching staff would pick the “best player we can” and that Clow'e replacement wouldn’t necessarily have to be a player with a similar rugged style.
...with the Rangers in desperate need of offense I can't see how Torts doesn't turn to Kreider. Now, if Torts sticks him on the fourth line and only gives him fives minutes it really doesn't matter who he puts in. But I'd love to see the Rangers head coach get him on a line with Brassard and Nash and see what happens. That's a whole lot of offensive talent on a team screaming for some goals.
Meanwhile, Marc Staal practiced with the team today, but said nothing has changed with his status and that he wishes it would be different but its not.
...it is so disgusting how much the Rangers miss him in this series. And not even because of his defense, it's because of his ability to move the puck through the neutral zone and actually get the Rangers the puck in the Capitals end. Which obviously they're not doing enough of in this series.
A couple of questions to all the Hockey Wizards on this site......because I want to be the first to know
(1) Looking at Torts' record of player development and wins name all the present coaches who you might think has done a significantly better job??????
(2)As the Head of The Rangers who would you hire in Torts' place?
Wizards....please help me to understand....Please!
OverUnder minutes for Kreider is 7:00. The clown the Rangers have as a coach will burn out th 10 players he uses from the 2nd period on and will cause the Rangers to be elminated. He thn needs to be fired imediately! They will never win the Cup with him as coach.
Kreider needs to stay in the lineup even if Cowe comeback next series. Rangers are goona take this one in 7. Pyatt needs to be benched when Clowe comes back. Kreider earand the right for post season minutes because of last year. Pyatt should be benched over Asham just because Asham has scored and Pyatt hasn't.
Oh Stop. Kreider hasnt seen more than 5 minutes worth of Ice in the last few games he has played so you are nuts to think Torts will give him any more than that.
When guys play their 1st couple games with the Rangers they play good untill they get settled into Torts system....
The human yo-yo. If the Rangers get eliminated tomorrow, hopefully Torts is fired right after the game.
Putting a guy with nothing to lose with a guy with nothing going right could be exactly what those two need. Torts needs to do a better job with home ice of getting Nash better match ups too.
I tend to think Kreider will get buried at some point during the game. Torts doesn't trust him defensively.
1) The Rangers will always miss Marc Staal, he is our number 1 dman. But if he doesnt play in game 6, and especially game 7, he should be shut down for the entire postseason. Clearly he is not okay right now, and he needs to get better he is 26 years old.. let him rest up this offseason and focus on next year..
2) Kreider with Nash is something I would like to see.. Right now I would rather have Kreider in the lineup than Nash, these last two games he has been more of a hinderance than a game changer.. Our two highest players could be seen as part of the 5 worst players on the team, with only Del Zaster being higher than Richards. You can't win in the postseason if your top players don't play like top players.. just ask Vancouver!!
Yeah sure cause they lit it up when they were here. To remind U Miller didn't score a goal in 20-straight games. U people just don't want to accept that 95% of all young players take 2-3 yrs to figure out how to play at this level & longer in the playoffs. And while they r figuring it out they r a liability defensivly & physically but yeah lets just throw em in there in an elimanation game. Them when they lose confidence & don't develop into the players they can be kinda like oh let me see...Manny Malahatea then u guys can all blsme Torts for ruining them. Thank God none of u r decision makers cause u don't know hockey.
So you are ready to just dump Nash? The Rangers have won 2 games and he assisted on the GWG in one of them.
Dminches...I wouldn't even respond to his Nash comments anymore they are emotional rantings that make no sense. How can u respond to someone who wants to bench ur best goal scorer & somehow sees him as a hindrance...it's beyond senseless its goofy!!!
