After this morning's optional practice in which Ryane Clowe (undisclosed) participated, he told Steve Zipay at Newsday that there is a good chance he plays in Game 4 tonight.
There were no spare forwards on the ice, meaning Clowe is all but assured to be back in the line-up.
Zipay adds that Darroll Powe (concussion) did not skate, while Rick Nash, who was given a maintenance day yesterday, skated this morning and said he is fine.
...pretty much a full line-up for the first time in this series has me absolutely fired up for tonight's game. Couldn't be more excited to see Clowe banging bodies, going hard to the net and causing havoc out on the ice.
Also at optional practice was John Moore, who worked on his slap shot (via Rangers Instagram)...
...hopefully, the extra work pays off with an important power play goal from the point tonight.
With Clowe back, I'd like to see the lines go back to what they were when we were successful down the stretch. That means putting Boyle on the bottom line with Ash and Dorsett, which I think could actually prove to be a solid line. Step should be the first line center, Brassard second, Richie third which is where he had his success before. Boyle can come in and take important faceoffs when needed, but with the way Boyle has played this playoffs, as well as Ash's contribution and Dorsett actually getting time on the ice, I think our fourth line could both be trusted and possibly score.
Great to have Clowe back in the lineup. And Jason its never a good thing to lose one of your best penalty killers when facing the best PP in the league. Does make it the decision easy for Torts though.
So who sits if Clowe is in? Powe? John Moore looks great but its still early to anoint him . Del Zotto is not the answer - he's young but we have had enough time to see what he can and can't do. Pumped for tonight
I LOVE John Moore. The best part about him is no one knows who he is. I think we found our QB, at 22 he already has the confidence to shoot the puck all the time. Finally no more passing... Get the puck on net and get the rebound... It's too bad it took us a decade to figure it out. LGR!!!
@JoshKaye Agree with this. Need to base lineup on who is producing and not on how much you think they should be producing. Richards better watch his back or Boyle will take his spot on the third line...
@Bob Sugar Perhaps due to Clowe playing on his line and making some room for him!
@Bob Sugar Clowe will take Powe's spot in the line-up as he's not playing due to likely concussion.
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG I can! Against Pittsburgh in our 6-1 win, scored by John Moore ironically.
@greggray24 @JoshKaye Richie has shown that with a smaller amount of ice time he's able to stay fresh longer and play very good hockey. Boyle should get the same amount or more ice time due to his contributions on the PK and PP. The majority of Richie's play time should come when he's on the power play. If Boyle jumps any higher than the third line I begin questioning Torts. I love Boyle but he is NOT a second line center. When we lost in overtime and Torts sent out a line of Pyatt Richie Boyle I completely lost my shit since that is one of the slowest, worst lines you could put on the ice.
