practice was very quick...Ryane Clowe did skate in a regular practice jersey...Carl Hagelin was given a maintenance day— Jim Cerny (@JimCerny) May 5, 2013
Here's Clowe on his status for tomorrow's game (via Daily News)...
"When I do get back in the lineup, I think I can make an impact."
...he's in tomorrow, no doubt. And I'm confident he will have an impact. As I've stated his game is perfect for the playoffs and exactly what the Rangers are missing right now.
...and who comes out? Pick a bottom six guy. I don't care. They've all been useless in the playoffs so far.
If Clowe is back, here are my lines. Please disagree if you must:
Clowe - Richards - Nash
Cally - Stepan - Hags
Zuc - Brassard - Kreider
Dorsett - Boyle - Asham/Powe
Stralman manning the point on the PP ... Not Girardi!
No one is the least bit concerned about his return at this point? 3 days ago he is not even skating because he is too concussed, now we drop 2 games and all of the sudden he is in a full contact jersey and ready to be inserted into the lineup? Come on. If he IS ready, great, awesome, glad to have him back. But if he's not ready, one bump could set him back months, or maybe worse.
He has no intention of lessening richards' role....he will continue to man the point on the powerplay....he will continue to shy away from traffic and will continue to be a complete waste!!!! Get girard off powerplay PLEASE!!!!!!
I'm trying to imagine Ryan Clowe as this shining knight who comes in and turns things around for the Rangers, but I am having trouble seeing it. Some grit from our forwards would be nice, but he can't be out there every shift. Sorry, the way Torts is running his lines he might just be out there every shift.
If you want to see the bottom lines have an impact, they're going to have to play double digit minutes. It might not show up on the stat sheet, but two extra minutes is two shifts of rest for our top players which could make a difference in the third period.
And I want to say put Kreider in the lineup, but Torts would play him for five minutes and wonder why he didn't score (for those playing the home game, it's because Torts plays him five minutes a game).
Clowe's answer is Tortorella code for "I'll be in the lineup tomorrow but you don't know that yet. '
Bradley was 4-10 on facelift yesterday, all others where close to .500. No other ranger had more time than Bradley on the pp. Mac and stralman had 0 minutes one the point during the pp....I know they both can skate and create a little.
Ashams 7:00 of wasteful ice time would not be missed if Miller replaced him. As a matter of fact he could probably do better than 4-10 on faceoffs.
Bradley needs to come off the pp and drop to 4th line time, miller needs to center 3rd line...only if torts wants a little more energy , speed, grit and puck posession
If you are watching Habs-Sens game you will see that players who want to win play hard and physical whether it is their personal "style" or not. Huge difference between that energy level and the crap the rangers have been doing.
Players should self-motivate, of course, but I continue to think these Gus have tuned out their coaches. They play like a defeated team, which they soon will be for the year.
can he score....can anyone on the Rangers score for that matter.....do or die tomorrow night.....LGR
Also, exactly what the Rangers are missing? We are missing goals, and Clowe has 2 goals this year... not quite what we need, maybe Gaborik is exactly what we need?????
Didn't mention that Hagelin may be out tomorrow
This is the order of how to come out:
1. Darrol Powe
2. Aaron Asham
3. Taylor Pyatt
4. Derrick Dorsett
5. Brian Boyle
Play Miller, Kreider and Clowe and take out 1 through three... put Richards on the third line, and move Brassard up with Nash. Also, put Brassard on the PP for Richards. I am sick of these bottom guys, dorsett looked like shit yesterday, he had no impact. We need to score some goals, I really like Miller's play and I think he has the perfect attitude for the postseason, and Kreider has speed, which is desperately needed if Hagelin is indeed out.
I agree Fish9876 I watched the game last night and it was the best playoff game this year by any teams hands down.
@Josh6 Gabby, really? he doesn't score and that's what we need? yeah he started scoring in Columbus but, different scenario.
@Josh6 Clowe is a guy who will get dirty for goals, something this team has shown it it not willing to do so far in the postseason.
Yeah Josh....I liked Miller's attitude too...but Miller was a turnover machine when he got sent down.....
Here;s the bottom line gang....its not the 4th line's fault we're not scoring.....we have talented players. Nash, Richards, Stephan, Hagelin, Callahan, Zuccarello........
These guys need to step up...man up...and do whatever they have to do to get the puck in the net.
@Josh6 What game were you watching? Dorsett playes a tough physical game that's what he does and it's something the Rangers need. And your list has 3 of the tougher players on it, don't you see the Rangers play with no physicalty at all?? So far your comments have benn directed at Clowe who has been injured and Dorsett as well. Do you have a hardon for players with injuries or you have nothing better to say!
@Josh6 take out ashram before pyatt or boyle? boyle is 50% if that. and pyatt is the most useless ranger
