Yesterday, Derek Stepan was a guest on the Michael Kay Radio Show (ESPN Radio) and discussed his Game 3 winner, Marc Staal's return to the line-up and more...

...very similar to Chris Drury, Derek Stepan isn't the most skilled player in the NHL but he's a winner who's able to get every ounce out of his ability.
...i'm still amazed with the progression of his game this season. I never expected him to be a player who was going to be relied on for offense. And he's just 22!
Not sure what you mean by "not the most skilled player". Agreed he's not flashy and doesn't have the sheer talent of Crosbys and Ovechkins of the NHL. But he's incredibly skilled with the puck, which he demonstrated right from the start in his rookie season. He makes great plays with the puck and never panics. Contrast that with someone like Kreider, for instance, who still hasn't made a play with the puck that was eye-opening. Yes Kreider can skate and shoot, but it's a different skill, and less valuable imo than what Stepan brings (and has always brought). Stepan and Callahan are birds of a feather.
In order for the rangers to win this hockey game tonight, and it is a must win they have to be something they haven't been since before last postseason...
Consistent. They won two playoff games in a row once last year, and this whole regular season have struggled to put anything together. Tonight is a must win. Going back to Washington down 3-1 is not an option
@rangersfan I meant that he's not a great skater, doesn't have an over powering shot and isn't a physically imposing player. He gets the most out of his ability. Which as you say is significant.
@Josh6 Agreed. If they lose tonight, series is likely over.
@KevinDeLury @Josh6 They won't!!! Rangers win it 4-1 tonight, and Hank plays out of this world (which he seems to do every other game in the post-season!!! He steals one tonight and we go back to Washington with a chance to take the lead!!!
And I know its a long ways away, but if we are looking around the league there is a chance we could have home-ice next round.... that would be CRAZY
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG Its not optimism or pessimism. I just say what I see, and right now I really think the Rangers are a better team. Nash has been a non-factor so far and we are still in this... Where the hell is that guy. 0 goals in 3 games is not going to cut it
