Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that despite still not practicing Brian Boyle (right leg) and Ryane Clowe (undisclosed) will travel with the team to Washington.
...while this obviously doesn't mean they're playing in Game 1, they're not, I am encouraged that the Rangers are allowing Clowe to fly as anyone with a severe concussion is usually prohibited from traveling on a plane.
Gross adds that Marc Staal (eye) and Derek Dorsett (broken clavicle), who is still wearing non-contact jersey, will also make the trip, but neither is likely to play. Staal told Pat Leonard at the Daily News this about his status for Game 1 after practice...
"I'm not gonna ... probably not going to play tomorrow."
...no surprise here. Although, Ovechkin is probably licking his chops knowing Staal won't be in the line-up for at least Game 1. Hopefully, Girardi and McDonagh will remind him that the Rangers have other capable defenseman and Del Zotto will be no where near him.
Henrik Lundqvist returned to practice after being given the day off yesterday to rest.
Here's some post practice video...
Ryan McDonagh (via Blueshirts United)...
Brad Richards (via Rangers Report)...
I,m note sure about Staal. I keep thinking about he Winter Cassic last year. He was't supposed to pay in that one either and at game time he was in the linup.
From all reports Staal has been working hard and the will is there. He'll be back when he can. I'm not counting on him and I bet Torts isn't either. Torts deals with the players he has. That said, we have a nice group of D. Moore was a great pickup and hopefully Del Zaster can pull his shit together a little better heading into the post-season, he hasn't been that great down the stretch. Eminger has been playing well. As for ovarian, Girardi and McDonagh are no pushovers.
i really hope that the long break between games has helped Staal get some meaningful practice time in. We've got a shot either way, but it will be much tougher without him for sure.
The Rangers haven't made anything easy thus year. I hope we can make this a short series. I don't want to see a game 7 in the first round.
Suspect Ovechkin would also be licking his chops at the idea of Stall coming in after so much time away and with blurry vision... If Stall does come back this series I would be pretty surprised if he can step right in and be used as the shut down defense man.

I remember being surprised that he was going to play ... I don't expect that surprise tonight, but your reminder does make me think he could be back during the series.
@greggray24 you are out of your mind. Blurry vision or not ovi has nightmares of staal. There was a hit last year where ovi tried to cut across Girardi and staal rocked him. Also, with the quality of our top 6 dman right now, staal doesn't step on the ice if he is a liability. Trust me ovi doesn't want to see Marc staal on the ice

@Josh6 He'll be back when he's back. No need to keep speculating. I don't expect to see him the rest of this season, but if he does come back it will be a huge bonus (provided he's at or close to 100%)
@AG_Blue Let's hopeso AG- Blue, we know he can shut down Ovechkn which will be the key in this ries.
@Josh6 @greggray24 Your premise is that he would not want to see Staal on the ice because if he is on the ice he will be ready to play like he was playing in the playoffs last year. I guess you may be right that if he isn't then he won't see the ice. I certainly hope so and think Staal has played better this year than last so he could lose a bit and still be as good as last year. I'm just not sure he steps back on the ice and performs at that level right away. Again, I hope so and it would be a huge lift for the team but I would hate to see Ovechkin take advantage of a less than 100% Staal and blind side him now that his blind side may be a bit bigger...
