Zuccarello Hasn't Decided on NHL Return

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Mats Zuccarello recently spoke with Norwegian newspaper VG (H/T Bergen Record) regarding his possible return to the Rangers...

"I really don't know that much, I haven't talked to (the Rangers) that much. The last I heard is that they are interested, so we'll see."

His thoughts on getting back to the NHL...

"I have not quite decided yet. But it's the NHL, so if the chance comes clearly it's tempting. But I have not thought about it much yet."

Zuccarello adds that he won't return to the NHL just to prove he can play at that level and that he had no problems with John Tortorella during his tenure with the Rangers. He did add that injuries and not living up to expectations made the decision not to bring him back this past offseason easy for the Rangers.

Meanwhile, Zuccarello’s agent, Don Meehan, told the New York Post has been in contact with Rangers assistant general manager Jeff Gordon, who said he would confer with Glen Sather and get back to him.

...my thoughts on a Zuccarello return are just as inconsistent as the Rangers play this season. One day I don't think they need him the next, I wonder if he could help.

...there's no denying the spark he gave the Rangers at the end of the season last year, but we have to remember that was just a small sample size and his larger NHL body of work indicates that his impact on the Blueshirts would likely be minimal.

i think hes exactly what we need.. great passer on the powerplay.. would play great with decent linemates and some ice team.. could possibly add third line scoring.. theres no downside to bringing him up.. powe is not a third line player he belongs on the fourth line neway

Torts would not use his talents properly so what's the point?

@supermaz i do agree with this tho... i wholeheartedly believe mats zuccarello belongs in the nhl and can be a 20 goal 30 assist guy on the right line with the right team

I may be biased, but I think Zucc would be a great addition and add a nice depth player!

@TheNYRBlog seeing as our bottom two lines haven't scored in a month signing him couldn't hurt.

%s Last thing we need is another slow of foot forward. Can we just start playing Boyle and sit Powe! %s

The rumors in Norway is that Zuccarello has been offered a contract, but not agreed to the terms, due to issues around the contract length. So if nothing changes, the hobbit will not return to broadway. But again, nothing official , so you never know.

With the inconsistencies of Boyle, someone half his size might just be even taller on the ice?

Not sure like you said, but any spark is better than none. Might just ingnite a fire under someone/team ass?

Considering they're still using Bickel at forward, I would love to see Zuccarello back.

@TheNYRBlog If the Rangers bring Zuccarello back, then another forward has to go. Zucc's a RW, so who will it be? Your thoughts?

@TheNYRBlog I'm kinda on and off with it too. Its just look what Nash does to Step and Hag. Zucc will look great with Nash
