Video: Torts, Players Talk 4-1 Win vs. Caps

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

...this is the most upbeat I think I've seen Torts in a post game interview this season. He seemed really content with how the Rangers played and that they're right on the cusp of where they need to be.

...i said it on Twitter after the Ottawa loss. It was the first time I didn't have a sense of panic about the Rangers after getting beat this season. Earlier in the year, there was no fight, no passion and no heart. I'm finally seeing all of those things with this team and I'm starting to get excited.

Here's the players reaction and highlights of the game...

I felt the same way after the Ottawa loss.  I wasn't happy they lost, but it was the first time that I wasn't full of rage and despair after a loss; it was more of a "well get 'em next time, boys" kind of feeling, which was a lovely change.

Wow. Torts really did look relaxed. As a fan, I look at this game not so much that the Rangers beat a poor team, but that their combined body of work has greatly improved in recent games. I just hope they can bring this effort against the better clubs, because simply beating the bottom feeders won't get it done.

Once you get past all the BS with the kinds of questions you know he isn't going to answer or or really discuss much, Tortorella gives some of the best press conferences out of any coach. He really discusses every little detail and gives you a really honest look at how he feels about players.

I agree. It's a little bit creepy, how calm he is...surreal!
