Sadly, there have been a number of low points for the Rangers this season, but to me none worse than the last time the Rangers visited their "House of Horrors" in Montreal.
They were physically dominated from one end of the ice to the other and inexplicably didn't come to the aid of teammates Ryan McDonagh and Marty Biron after they were run by Montreal players during the 3-0 loss.
It got so bad, Canadien players were actually laughing at the Rangers for their lack of response to Biron being bowled over at the end of the game. Meanwhile their toughness was not only question by Biron after the game but from every corner of the hockey world the rest of the week.
I mean seriously, how could they not come to the defense of McDonagh after Max Pacioretty did this...
...we've all been looking for something, anything to jolt this team and I think the Rangers jumping Pacioretty off the opening face-off is it. I haven't seen this team stick up for each other once this year. We've seen Nash crushed by Lucic, nothing. McDonagh hit from behind by Pacioretty, nothing. Kreider flattened by Orpik, nothing. Time for the 2013 Rangers to stop being a group of individuals and become a team.
...and for those of you worried about the Rangers possibly giving up a short-handed goal on the very likely ensuing Montreal power play in such an important game. All I can say is this. After a watching a teammate come to the aid of another, you can bet that the Rangers penalty kill unit will go balls to the wall to make sure that penalty is killed off. And if not, who cares? They're in Montreal. It's not like they're going to win anyway.
I agree 100%. Conceptually, this should happen. But, who in this lineup is willing to give it up for his team mate? No Asham in the lineup, so that leaves Newbury as the only guy willing and/or capable of doing this.
We once had a player or 2 who would get get revenge in their on way, one was Prust who ran away for the BIG BUCS and he other was Sean Avery who got run out of town by the coach. Now we are a bunch of girl scouts! We gvie he cookies away
I was at the game in mont and was actually embarrassed to be wearing my jersey all night it was the sentiment of all fans I ran into that night.......at least we had some good Montreal strip clubs to dull the pain.......
Can anybody remember during any of the past seasons under Torts, proactively retaliating after a cheap shot on another teammate? We don't have a player who can act like a cop on this team. Newbury? That's too funny.
@TheNYRBlog We lack all that goon mentality. Sad
I expect no revenge whatsoever. We're a bunch of sad fucking little girls, nothing will happen in MTL. It's disgraceful.
@TheNYRBlog jumping him? How about challenge him?
Just saying, lets focus on scoring we are currently last in the NHL in goals scored with 78.... that is a joke
Montreal became my most hated team followed by Pittsburg…
Arrogant fan base…most disgust (homers) TV cast…I will be so disappointed if Rangers didn’t have REVENGE…
@TheNYRBlog They wont do it. This team has no mean streak. And thats why we keep losing.
I LOVEEE how the Ottawa announcers make it like it was ok. A boarding is never ok. dumbass canadiens.
Man, I hope the Rangers are aware. They gotta show something tonight. If ever Torts or any of the guys read the blog, this is one post I'd have them look at.
@TheNYRBlog Wishful thinking.
@TheNYRBlog I'd like the Rangers to worry about scoring some goals before retribution.
I fell asleep during a few games recently, but I don't remember the last time anyone on our team fought. I think it was Bickel trying (TRYING) to fight somebody.
Who exactly do you want to do that since we have no fighters in the lineup last I checked...
I do think you're on to something though with "Time for the 2013 Rangers to stop being a group of individuals and become a team." Something is definitely off with this team and I think it runs deeper than anyone has speculated so far.
@TheNYRBlog I think the only guy with toughness in the lineup tonight is Callahan but I wouldn't want to see him fight and risk getting hurt
@TheNYRBlog oh yeah, good point!
@jslnyr1102 Newbury is pretty tough, would be nice to see Asham out there instead of Pyatt thats forsure
@nick_londeen That's fine to.
@JohnPiccini That would be nice but scoring actually seems more unlikely than retribution. lol
@Melissa (blknblueshirts) I'll bet Boyle could take Pacioretty. I mean Boyle definitely didn't learn anything from Prust about fighting while Prust was here, but I doubt Pacioretty can fight either.
@TheNYRBlog not with Zucc in the lineup. LOL
@KevinDeLury I guess. I kind of forget about him lol. But since they have last change, I can't see them putting Pacioretty out if we have Newbury on the ice.
@TheNYRBlog Oh wow I barely hear about him so I forgot he was here lol my bad. Yes cmon Newbury rough it up with Pacioretty!
@TheNYRBlog hahaha, he only takes bad penalties, not good ones.
@TheNYRBlog come now, if day drinking made you optimistic you'd be one of the most positive people on earth...
