Rangers Talking to Kings About Gaborik?

Bernstein adds that the Rangers had two scouts at the Kings/Coyotes game last night.
...with the Rangers not playing the Western Conference this season, you have to assume they were scouting players for a potential trade.
...despite being a former Flyer as well as Dubinsky's nemesis, wouldn't mind seeing Mike Richards wearing a Blueshirt. I think he'd be a perfect fit for this team. Having said that, you all know I'm against trading Gaborik and I think he's slowly showing signs of breaking out of his funk. Would hate to trade a 40-goal scorer just as he's ready to breakout.
...also Richards is under contract until 2020 at $5.75 million per year, so doubt it's happening.
...Rob Scuderi could be someone the Rangers have their eye on as a rental. Final year of his contract with Stanley Cup pedigree.

You people are crazy... Gaborik for Kopitar? Never happen, Gaborik is not in Kopitars league. With Greene and Mitchell gone, you can give up any hope of any d-man being moved by the Kings. You might be looking in the range of Nolan and King. Not to say that they are on par with Gaborik, but I don't see the Kings moving people like Stoll or Williams simply because they do the dirty work that makes others successful... and they aren't what the Rangers are looking for I wouldn't think. Trading for Bernier would be pointless unless you plan on moving Lundquist.

Kings wont give up any leadership guys like RIchards and Scuderi, they are playing too well to do that.
but they have alot of young guys that are bound to be stars and can produce right now, Tyler Toffoli, Jonathan bernier, Jordan Nolan, Jake Muzzin.

Gabby's not there yet but he's showing signs. Lately he's been battling more for lose pucks (couldn't have gotten any worse) lending credence to my theory that when he took a big hit 8 games in or so he tweaked the shoulder, or it was not fully healed to begin with. Anyway I'd hate to lose him but if they can honestly improve the team, not just this season but in the future by dealing him then go for it (meaning I'd like to see them not trade for anyone older). I don't like finger pointing; if you're a team that's not successful then everyone is accountable and as a team you should fix it Having said that I feel that Richey's play has been startlingly poor and because Gabby's expected to put the puck in the net, he's getting scape-goated. I know he' been sub-par but if any finger pointing happens it should point Richey's way. They looked their best this year when he was injured. Unless there's a dramatic turn around I'd like to see them keep Gabby and buy out Richey this offseason
40 goal scorers don't grow on trees.Good scoring quality NHL players like Dubi and AA pretty much do.If we need grit and depth to replace them there is no way Rangers should trade Gaborik unless they get a comparable scorer. Trade him and we could make the playoffs and be out of it easily, even with a good trade.Gabs will get untracked even if he is having an off year.Not likely he won't if he plays like yesterday I want the Rangers to win the SC-as difficult as that is to believe in.Keeping Gaborik and having him get back to his usual level of greatness is the best way to get a chance at the Cup.Rangers and Torts are stupid if they bet against him and be building for "next year" or the year after.Generally you don't win the Stanley cup with only one superstar scorer- you have to have a couple of them or even more.Get the middle depth from somewhere else.We aren't going to megatrade our way out of this mediocrity and certain players are just going to have to get their act together,If there are players that work out later and can be brought in we have a chance. N@Betweentheworlds @slapshot13j If we are going to be totally unrealistic, I say gabby and richie for kopitar and doughty.
Kreider just called up, Haley sent down. I imagine it has to do with the Panthers not being a tough, divisional game.

I would only trade Gabby to the Kings if we got Richards and a healthy Willie Mitchel. Nobody else. Not even Scuderi.

Unless the Rangers are getting Kopitar, Doughty, or Brown, trading Gaborik to the Kings makes absolutely no sense. Scuderi makes more sense, but I would hope that has nothing to do with Gaborik.

@mamamia212 @gravey94 gabby is a top 6 forward as well and has scored alot more goals than kopitar. They have to give up alot to get alot I don't want to give gaborik away.
@gravey94 And those three are not getting traded. I would like for the Rangers to get Scuderi but I do NOT trade Gabby for him or anyone else on that roster.
@gravey94 finally some sanity being heard, the kings don't have the right pieces for us if we even are trading gaborik

slapshot13j I think on D, unless we get Kris Letang type to run our PP, I would take Staal, Girardi, McDonough and DZ over any group of 4 D. We need a better chemistry fit in the top 6 and a 3rd line center who can score. Edmonton doesn't need Gaborik from us, they need Mark Staal....
@LanceGold1 Hemsky is a winger that can play left with Nash. And gagner is a center that can be on the third line until we buyout Richards and he can be our second line center.

Realistically, I think we are looking at Stoll/Penner/Toffoli/Jordan Nolan like players. No chance Richards will be dealt to us, nor Kopitar, and Scuderi is not coming either. Justin Williams and one of those 3 could be the package....
I think Gaborik has become a luxury we do not need now--with 2 RW's ahead of him on the depth chart. We keep trying to fit a square peg into a circle having him play out of position.
We need a legitimate 3rd line center so Boyle OR Halpern play but on line #4...and we need a left wing with some size.....Stoll and Jordan Nolan would be a good fit for a win now team like we are.

I should clarify--I am not saying this is what I want.....I am saying this is what the talk has been. Trading Gaborik for DEPTH. Don't shoot the messenger. I never said I agreed with it. That doesn't mean it won't happen. I am more excited about the idea of a Gaborik for Bfuglien from Winnipeg type deal....and move him back to forward....he fits the Rangers in a lot of ways, and Schonny and Torts will get him in shape.

@LanceGold1 to trade Gaborik for that garbage, would mean 10 more years of no cup for us. And hank would leave next year. They need to get depth that can score 25 goals, and a top 3 if not top 2 dman.

@shishya100 Plan is for millet and Kreider to play together and form a future combo we also have Lindbergh and fast in SEL that are ready. We will be rolling 4 lines that can all score as early as next season and defense second to none top to bottom and the best gk in league.

I can't understand why there is so much talk about trading Gaborik. I wish Richards could go but the only way he is, would be a buyout that contract is an eye sore. If we trade with the kings I would want a return of doughty, a top 9 forward and a 1st rounder... But I'm dreaming and also not giving up gabby for nothing
