Rangers Season Tickets to Increase Next Year
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
Rangers fans are some of the most loyal in all the NHL, so how do the Rangers and their owner James Dolan thank us...
NY Rangers season ticket prices will increase by an average of 4% for the 2013-14 season. Knicks up an average of 6.4%. @sbjsbd

...talk about a middle finger to the fans who stuck with the team during and after the lockout. Just when you thought this franchise couldn't get more greedy. Ugh.
...this so infuriates me, you have no idea. It was just two years ago that my friends and I were priced out of our season tickets. Season ticket holders are the most passionate part of a team's fanbase, so instead of thanking us, they decide to take advantage. What else is new? Disgusting.

My tickets have went from $56 per ticket per game 2 seasons ago to $79 per ticket per game this season. The ROW IN FRONT OF ME went from $59 last season to $125 this season. It really is getting utterly ridiculous. That is a 111% increase in 1 season. I might be canceling my seasons tickets after my 8-year tenure. It sucks.
@VinnieLorenzo That sucks man. I know how upset my friends and I were when we cancelled ours.
As a longtime "blue seats" season ticket holder the increase won't be much for me as mine are already among the cheapest seats in the arena. But that said, the increase in my tix over the past few years has been ridiculous. Sad fact is, there's always someone waiting to take my place so they keep ratcheting up the price. as someone else said, it really is all about putting more suited asses in the seats - people who don't know shit about the game or the team. You can already feel and hear the difference in the arena every year but Dolan can't because the cash register ringing is much louder in his ears. Would love to take part in an organized protest to send a message to that bastard. At the very least a 'we bleed blue' shirt that sends a message would be useful.
i had season tickets from 1976 to 1979. the price was $7.50 per game for a seat in section 321 (if i remember correctly). the price increased gradually to a whopping $15 for the finals against the canadiens in 1979. those were the ooh la la years with davidson, duguay, the maloney's, et al. today, i couldn't afford a soda let alone the price of a ticket.
@IcyCup never mind he is still suspended for two more games, so we wont get to see him
Looks like they're starting to follow the Yankees business plan...which is "price the average fan out of the stadium, and sell to corporations and wealthy fans." That tactic works well for a winning team, but when you hit a slump, you're left with tons of empty seats as the corporate sponsors aren't going to waste time on a losing team.
Look at the Yankees - they can't seem to fill a stadium for a playoff game anymore, and the place empties out after the 6th inning. Great job Rangers!
A BIG EFF U TO DOLAN...WE WERE THE ONLY FRANCHISE THAT DIDN'T GIVE THE SEASONS TIX HOLDERS OR ANY TICKET BUYERS SOME KIND OF GIVEBACK AFTER THE LOCKOUT OR GET ANY KIND OF THANK YOU AFTER THE LOCKOUT FROM THE IDIOT SAVANT. GO DROWN IN A 64OZ $20.00 SODA AT ONE OF YOUR CONCESSION STANDS. BTW DOLIE BOY...YOUR TRANSFORMATION SUCKS...ROYALLY!!!
Sucks big time, but not surprising. And at the end of the day, for most of the actual die-hards who are in the upper level, it'll only work out to a few extra bucks per ticket. That adds up across multiple tickets for multiple games, but with what you're already paying it's really just a drop in the bucket.
If you sign up to get kicked in the junk, can't be too mad when they wear steel-toed boots...
If they win the Stanley Cup, I get it, raise prices. If they don't, keep prices the same, if they dont make the playoffs, fire Sather and lower the prices by 4%.
@TheNYRBlog yup team run by greedy SOBs. They take & take from us & then they tell us to mind our own business when we want info. Literally.
And I'm out! I already gave up a kidney for this season. Can't afford another kidney for next years season tickets, wait, how much are spleens going for?
Bupkis. you can live without your spleen. and Jimmy don't play dat.
@TheNYRBlog what else is new, we're always getting the middle finger from every angle
BULLSHIT “@TheNYRBlog:a middle finger to NYR fans who stuck with team after the lockout&increase season tix next yr: nyrangersblog.com\/2013-articles\/…jOW”
@_RxLauren @TheNYRBlog Ask any old time MSG tech, Pre Dolans Both Potvin & Sports Channel SUCK! Low Quality & No Respect.
Well, they've gotta pay for the new MSG somehow, right?
I'll probably never be able to go to another game at MSG. Have only gone to one as-is... sad, but at least now we'll have Barclays as an option along with Prudential. Both are great arenas.
Not surprising. Dulan's a d-bag but as long as people buy them at the increased prices why stop raising them?
I'm not surprised they are raising the prices. What amuses me is how they mention the reason being the third phase of the renovation, specifically the bridge and new scoreboard. Here's the thing - rumor is that due to the bridge, half the arena (the upper decks) won't be able to see this brand new scoreboard. Honestly, that pisses me off more than the expected price increase.
%s - and the owners have the nerve to complain about profit margins and player compensation? %s
No surprise here, but there becomes a point in which Dolan will really start to price out the majority of the die hard fan base that has been lining his pockets for so many years. Have you seen what a home game is like at the Air Canada Center in Toronto? Talk about pricing out your fan base, that place can be as quiet as a library.
@nick__i No different at MSG right now. Embarrassing how easy of a place it has become for an opponent to play in.
Really Kevin, how else did you think he was going to finance the renovations at MSG?
%s They wont be satisfied till everyone in %s is wearing a suit..There gonna suck the life outta that building %s
@RSJem You're 100% correct. Dolan is a smart business man who know how to make money. Unfortunately, it's always at his most passionate fans' expense.
