Nash Mimics Messier
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
When I see Rick Nash race down the right wing and rip one home like this last night...
It reminds me of a certain Rangers great who perfected that move coming down the off-wing...
...talk about Messier-esque. Nash has scored from that exact spot a few times this season and each time he does I'm always reminded of "The Captain."
...as far as last night's game, another huge goal for Nash, who hasn't been phased at all by the bright lights of the big city. If the Rangers have any legit Cup aspirations, he likely has to take his game up to an even higher level, just to make up for the lack of scoring coming from his linemates Richards and Gaborik.

Would love to see him with an ear to ear grin holding up the Stanley cup like The Captain too!!!
Messier had that legendary right leg pump though, Nash uses the left and crosses it behind. Then again I really don't care too much as long as he keeps doing it!
Kinda scaring me the CBJ are just 2 points behind where we're at even though we have Nash, Rangers are gelling but still have to take it to that next level. They can start by beating Florida
@BrendyJohnson We'd all like to the Rangers to be at a more comfortable position, but it looks like they're finally starting to gel and ready for a nice run here. The upcoming schedule is very favorable.
@TheNYRBlog My favorite thing about that shot by Nash... the fact that he shot it. I hope every player on the Rangers learns from that.
@TheNYRBlog Love how JD says of the one-leg-up, "like he's gonna pump to start the motorcycle"
@TheNYRBlog I know its complete speculation but seeing as the NYR lack Rhanded shots period Gabs Thomas & 3rd rnd pick for B Ryan? Thoughts?
@mobilope I'm willing to take my chances with Gabby, who slowly seems to be coming out of his funk.
@TheNYRBlog Not Gabby bashing. Just thoughts on lack of Rhand shots and the fact that Bobby Ryan is younger to boot
@TheNYRBlog In the offseason!! Make all the trades!!! Sorry just getting ready for the next loss
@mobilope I hear what you're saying. Team has lacked chemistry all year, but they seem to be coming together now. Hate to rock the boat
@nuttree10 Loved Gartner. But Nash\/Messier comparison is better because both are left shots coming down right wing & Gartner was a righty.
Slow down with your comparisons. Rick Nash has never won a Playoff Game, forget about 6 Stanley Cups. This is a stretch.
It seems every time the Rangers win a few in a row, you're ready to hand them the Cup. Then when they lose a few, you're ready to disassemble the team. Calm down.
@MutantCity be a fan and enjoy the game stop complaining about everything ugh so annoying
@MutantCity And at no point have I said to disassemble team. Actually, if you've read the blog you'd know I've argued against it: http://www.nyrangersblog.com/2013-articles/march/torts-doesn-t-have-the-answers.html
@MutantCity Didn't compare Nash to Messier, I compared the move. Big difference.
Cup aspirations is a long way away... Just did some math and if the rangers went 17-2 in their last 19 and Pittsburgh went 10-8 in their last 18, Pittsburgh would still win the division because of the tiebreaker... So I think the division has already been won...
@slapshot13j Eh, who cares though. I like our chances if we can take hold of the the 4th or 5th spot.
@tygalpin really? I would rather have the six and play Carolina or Winnipeg instead of Boston or Montreal
@slapshot13j Makes no difference to me, really. Especially after last playoffs. What I was saying is that I like what it means for us as a team if we can get hold of the 4/5 spot from where we are now, seeing as that's as high as we're gonna go.
