Miscommunication Inside Rangers Organization Ended Arnott Signing?
Written by Kevin DeLury on .
Yesterday, Andy Stickland at 590 The Fan in St. Louis reported that Jason Arnott failing his physical with the Rangers may not have been fully injury related as the coaches/players and GM were not on the same page.
Today, Strickland expanded on that further saying that there may have been some miscommunication inside the Rangers organization that led to the signing blowing up.
On January 26th, the Rangers and Arnott agreed on a one-year deal worth $1.6 - $1.7 million.
...while Strickland is still being very cryptic, I can only assume he is inferring that Tortorella and Sather had differing opinions on signing Arnott or possibly his role with the team. I still wish if Strickland is going to post something like this he'd be more specific as it leaves a lot to be desired.
...doubt we'll ever really know what happened. Especially with how tight lipped the Rangers are on everything.

AS someone who has watched Sather since his Edmonton days; there isn't a coach who can tell Sather who to sign or not. Sather will listen to people but in the end Glen Sather decides what Glen Sather will do. Torts is in many ways the coaching version of Sean Avery because he knows exactly how to control the media. When the Rangers play horribly it is Torts who will get people talking about how he treats the media or whether he is a bully. But if it diverts the attention from the crappy power play or the effort by the players then Torts has gotten what he wanted.
@TheNYRBlog I rather Miller get his minutes. Funny how he isn't playing anywhere else if he is "good to go"? His knees are wore out.
Umm Torts is a douche I'm sure that had something to do with it. He has history with Sather so I doubt there was issue with him. Surprised he agreed in first place I'm sure other players have shunned the Rangers because of tool coach.
@IcyCup come on princess I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. As hard as it to believe everyone doesn't like the bully dick.
@Chriserwin @IcyCup Hi is not a bully, he actually seems like a very caring yet stubborn individual who wants the best out of you every night and hold you responsible... I can see how you can confuse that with a bully but he is not a bully... the whole media thing? to me its hilarious and i think he doesn't care about them, and is just being a stubborn old man as opposed to a bully.
@IcyCup I don't doubt that he got along with vinnie he was probably best player on his Tampa teams. I'm sure he gets along with Richards and Boyle you can almost see him play favorites. But I've seen him be disrespectful to reporters male and female, his treatment of Avery, his comments of not liking Strallman even though he didn't know him. His dickie comments about numerous players on his own team. Team has talent but yet even wins are usually epic struggles leaving team gassed. There is a reason his team has only gotten out of first round three times in eleven tries.
@Chriserwin research his relationship with vinnie lecav. it may expand your view of torts as just a bully. also, i dont think that there's a better fit for the organization out there right now.
not everyone does, but most don't obsess, as you do, judging by your past comments. did he run over your dog or something?
@AnnoyingJoe sorry like most fans I can only speculate I don't have inside sources like you must.
Damn, anyone would be better than Brian "the cone" Boyle. Even 38 year old arnott with a bum knee...
@TheNYRBlog logically, if it wasn't true, why has no one else signed him...this seems like a whole lot of #FindingBigFoot nonsense.
