Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports that JT Miller (wrist) skated hard with Rangers Assistant General Manager Jim Schoenfeld during this morning's optional practice making it unlikely he'll play tonight.
Miller told Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record this about his status for tonnight...
“It’s sore, I’m not sure yet. I don’t know for tonight. Maybe, I’m not sure, I’ve got to talk to the coaches first. A little bit (it still bothers me). It’s still me. I don’t want to rush anything.”
Meanwhile, Gross adds that the newly recalled Kris Newbury said he isn't sure who he'll play with tonight.
Finally, Henrik Lundqvist is expected to be back in goal against the Capitals tonight.
...holding my breath that this Miller injury isn't anything serious. I don't think it will be, but you never know.
...with Newbury and Asham in the line-up, could the Rangers, dare I say, have some actual toughness on the ice?
...thought Torts made a mistake going with Lundqvist on Thursday vs. Florida, because now he's almost forced to ride him for the remainder of the season.
Really interesting to see where Newbury plays tonight. I'd like to see him centering the third line with kreider and Pyatt (until miller cones back) and Boyle on the third line with asham and Powe. On the other hand if he is on the fourth line I think he is just up until miller comes back.
@TheNYRBlog probably just toughness on the bench, more so than on the ice.
@TheNYRBlog I have no doubts about Newbury. Asham however will probably get into a fight and suffer from more back spasms...
@TheNYRBlog like your optimism ....
@TheNYRBlog maybe, but Newbury never wins a fight. But can throw his body around
