Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that JT Miller (wrist) will likely return to the Rangers line-up in Philadelphia tonight as he was off the ice during the morning skate with the regulars and said he was able to shoot and pass without discomfort.
Henrik Lundqvist will make his eighth straight start.
...with Miller likely back, someone has to come out and I'm going with Pyatt. The fourth line played very well against the Capitals, so I find it highly unlikely Newbury is the healthy scratch, especially with Torts singling out his play recently. The only other candidate is Boyle, but with Halpern gone, his face-off ability is integral.
To back-up my point on Newbury, here's Torts on him this morning...
“The big thing with Newbs, and he brought us energy, a big part of his game is his bite. He’s got to straddle that line and not go over that and not put us down a man. I liked what that fourth line did, I always liked him, he needs to make just make sure he’s got that edge and not cross line and lose discipline.”
...as far as Hank goes, got to ride the man. He made some huge saves against the Caps, especially that one in the final seconds, that allowed the Rangers to at least gain a point.
We are approaching a point - may even be there now- when we need to win every remaining game to comfortably make the post season. Time to reach deep! LGR!!!!!
Definitely want to see Newbury in the mix tonight. If That 4th line keeps contributing like it did on Sunday, it's bound to rub off.
Those might be the lines you want, but here's the lines you;re going to get:
Here is my hope in lines for tonight (note: since torts seems to hate success I've given up hoping for hags Stephan Nash) Kreider Richards Nash Hags Stephan cally Miller Boyle gabby Asham Newbury powe
I'd like to see these lines tonight if Miller is healthy:
With a potential switch of Boyle and Newbury if necessary.
I am very afraid of the team we are dressing right now. It reminds me of the Montreal team that took a complete beat down from the Boston Bruins a year ago. Do you remember the blood that was shed (all Montreal's), the humiliation Montreal had to endure the rest of the year? Well, Philadelphia is in complete controll of tonight's game. If they want to play it that way, they can, and after the way we have dominated them recently, I will not be surprised to see it happen. We have become the N.Y. blueskirts.
@TheNYRBlog Boyle is done. Trade or sit him when next new guy comes.Pyatt is effectively now Halpern. 4th line minute eater at best
@TheNYRBlog sounds like this weekend for Zuc and Fast? Or will Fast be sent down?
@TheNYRBlog I believe Pyatt and Boyle will be BYE BYE in 2 weeks
@TheNYRBlog agreed about Boyle, and your anticipated line-ups and rationale. spot on.
I'd hate for them to be our best line, but I want that kind of contribution too. Here's hoping the soft play and attenuated effort are getting old for the Rangers.
@KevinDeLury as much as I would like gags Stephan Nash I actually do like these lines. Gives kreider a real shot at some bug minutes and allows gaborik to move back to the right wing.
@MikeBlue Really? With Asham and Newbury in there, it's one of the few times I've felt good about team toughness going into a game.
No way Newbury sits. They need his toughness vs. phili
@kc571 Discrepancy on whether he can even play in the NHL this year, so not sure.
@AG_Blue Would be shocked if he's not.
@RicanRangerFan Have to find a team who'd actually want them.
@jheuss17 Hasn't been even close to the same player. Still offers some positives, but needs to score & be more physical.
@TheNYRBlog I heard they have to release him from their national team.
Seriously. I mean there are a few guys who have been underwhelming, but he's gotta be at the front of the line right now.
@TheNYRBlog Waive them to Hartford. There they can win the Cup. Ha ha The Calder Cup.
@TheNYRBlog It's amazing how many times I see him knocked in his ass by players 3\/4 of his size.
Richards seems to be working to rival those numbers
@AG_Blue One goal in the last 27 games = seat in the press box.
@TheNYRBlog How about send them to the KHL
@RicanRangerFan Not sure any team would think it's worth it. lol
@TheNYRBlog Package them in a deal for Draft picks. Even if its 20th round.
@RicanRangerFan Salary still counts against Rangers cap.
@jheuss17 Such a big body, needs to go to the net on every offensive possession to cause havoc. Maddening that he refuses to do it.
