Update, 11:58 a.m.:
Here's video of Kreider's goal (1:04 mark)...
Original Post:
Chris Kreider scored his second power play goal in two games since being assigned to the Whale to help lead Connecticut to a 3-2 overtime win vs. Bridgeport.
Meanwhile, Brendan Mashinter got into his fourth fight since joining the Whale and ended up bloodying his opponent. Sorry no video, but here's a pic courtesy of reader Nicole...

Oh yeah, and Rick DiPietro did this...

...two games in and it looks like message received by Kreider. Making a statement that he wants to be back in the NHL. Very impressed with his ability to deal with adversity.
...please Sather, give Mashinter another chance.

@TheNYRBlog it's funny krider gabby can't play for this ass of a coach. Now krider scoring and u like torts what a joke
@Zyke13 Was it Torts' fault Kreider was terrible with Whale during the lockout? And I guess Kreider's play in playoffs was in spite of Torts
@TheNYRBlog so according to u this coach has all the right answers why is Boyle still playing
@TheNYRBlog always like our debate going Friday lets hope they turn this into winning streak
@Zyke13 Terrible job by Torts changing up line-up during winning streak. Had no choice after injuries though. Kreider hasn't been good.
@TheNYRBlog then y is Boyle doing suiting up and krider not up,when they won who dressed not Boyle he put him back and they loss,?
@TheNYRBlog u just don't get u r a torts fan, krider is a kid going to macke mistakes but is gifted just let the kid play,
Tried to see if Hockeyfights had the Mashinter fight, but they failed. The guy he fought was Nathan McIver, and this is the fourth time the two have went at it, 2nd time this season. First time they fought was the first time Masher fought for the Whale. McIver seems to enjoy getting his ass kicked.
Remember Deveaux? He fought and was good at it but got a Shanny suspension and Torts never gave him another chance. He'd be better than Asham who had one fight and has been out of the lineup since. I guess if that's all a player provides, unlike other teams, Torts will not use him. So for fighters to make it to Torts lineup you have to offer more than just fighting. Only reason Bickel in lineup is injury to Asham.
No aaron asham at practice again today, what a waste of time he was....Complete disgrace, what has he missed 5 or 6 games for back spasms. We need to sign a grinder to replace that piece of garbage. Also, Richards not practicing no specifics....
@TheNYRBlog haha of course you have to add in Mashinter... did that picture turn you on... good thing you have no video #WorseThanPornForYou
@TheNYRBlog is i @ fair to say he's under achieved this season or just to much expectations out on him by the fans?
@TheNYRBlog Mashinter is a career minor leaguer. Can't replicate his AHL play in the NHL, he's proven that in every game he dressed this yr
@TheNYRBlog I wish there was an argument because NYR could use a player like him in their bottom 6. Grit, toughness and a little skill
Only fitting that DiPietro got sent to "Bridge" port considering he wanted to drive his car off of one when the fishsticks sent him down
I was at the game. Mashinter mashed the face of the Sound Tiger (can't remember who it was). They had to bring the ice chipper to get the blood off the ice. Kreider looked great and got a gimme goal. It was Yogan though who played really really well and I was quite impressed.
However, none of these guys should be on the NYR roster right now. Mainly because Torts will not let them play their game. Even Ferreiro (sp?) who had a few points but more penalties needs some time with the Whale.
Bottom line is, Torts needs to let these guys play how THEY know how to play. Mashinter should be unleashed to pummel guys (e.g. Pacioretty after he almost killed McD). Kreider should be able to skate as well as does and be surrounded with the players to do so.
Why the hell didn't Mishinter fight when he was up with the Rangers? He blew his chance by not engaging.
Kreider needs to score for sure, but he also needs to be meaner. It's a mean game. Miller IS torts's type of player. Nasty. Miller had a great game for them last night, btw. Coming on strong. I underestimated him.
I wouldn't want to jump the gun on bringing either of these two back just yet. It may be message received on Kreider's end of it but the team is clicking right now and that isn't something to be messed with. Let him stay down there a little while longer where he is producing. Getting recalled after putting up a couple points would only make the roller coaster the Rangers have put him on worse.
