Kreider Pointless as Whale Shutout

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

Chris Kreider went scoreless for the first time since rejoining the CT Whale as the Rangers AHL affiliate were shutout 3-0 by Springfield.

Kreider has two shots on goal and was a -1.

...listen, I get that Kreider isn't going to score every game. But I'd still like to see the Rangers #1 prospect dominate AHL players a little better than this.

...while I expected Miller to get a couple of games with the Rangers this season, I've been completely taken off guard that he's the rookie impressing in the NHL, while Kreider is still trying figuring out the pro game at the AHL level. Didn't see that coming.

Brandon Mashinter had an equally uneventful night in the scorers book, but at least he had another fight.

What the hell is that guy talking about.  In 5 games Kreider has 5 points(4 goals).  Thats pretty dominating.  I mean i know its not the nhl but its not like JT Miller was lightining it up every game when he was in the AHL.

In the four games Kreider has played in since being back, he's had 2 shots in three of them. Then there was the game against Portland where he had 7 shots and two goals. His stats for those four games are 4 goals, 0 assists, 13 shots, +1. You take out that one game and his numbers look very, very different.

MSG always shows highlights that no one cares about during the 150, why don't they ever show the whale? Makes no sense.

Sure, and Kris Newbury is 3rd in the AHL in scoring...so there's that.

Really surprising to see the lack of fire and confidence! You expect a slight let down from the playoffs, but he hasn't really shown anything and although an injury can explain away some of it his tentativeness is concerning! JT has shown the desire to WANT to play big minutes where kreiders lackluster efforts haven't don't him any favors. Hopefully he'll regain his edge soon because the rangers definitely need the depth!
