JT Miller Hurt (Update: Wrist Issue & Rangers Recall Newbury)
Written by Neill Fowler on .
Update, 2:08 p.m.:
According to Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record, the reason Miller left practice was due to a left wrist injury he suffered against the Panthers.
Miller's x-ray results were negative, be he is questionable for tomorrow's game vs. the Caps.
Here's Miller on the injury (via Newsday)...
"It's just sore, it was pretty swollen. It feels OK now, but when I was trying to shoot I could feel the tendons pop...they're loose."
And in the event Miller can't go the Rangers have announced that they have recalled Kris Newbury from the Whale.
Kevin DeLury:
Very similar to Haley, Newbury is a guy who will stick-up for teammates and adds some toughness to the line-up. Kreider also spoke glowingly of Newbury after being recalled the other day.
The question is, does Newbury play tomorrow regardless of Miller's status? And if he does, who comes out? Pyatt? Boyle? Richards?

Not exactly news you want to wake up to...
J.T. Miller, who started practice by colliding with a stretching Henrik Lundqvist, has left the ice.

Awesome, the Rangers can't get in the way of their opponents, but they can get in the way of themselves....
By all accounts, Lundqvist avoided injury. Lucky for the Rangers, especially if Hank is still rehabbing a stiff neck.
The Rangers had a second practice session this morning that Miller did not participate in. No time to panic, yet.

@TheBroadwayHat @NYRblogneill great there goes his 0 goals over the past month. Where o where can we fill that production. .
Please bring in somebody to put up against Lucic's of the world. Team needs TOUGHNESS and PP QB.
@DJJOEYEYEZ didn't know he was hurt, now updated in last NYR blog post @TheBroadwayHat
@TheBroadwayHat @NYRblogneill i think it was reported that he was fine from the collisions but strained his wrist in the last game

@AG_Blue Asham is expected back, so yes someone would have to come out if Torts wants MIller and Newbury to play.
Ha! Forgot about Asham ... let's see if he can skate. It would be good to get him going before the would-be post-season
@charliegoal Yes, teams have till tomorrow at noon (I think) to claim him. If not then he's Whale bound.
@TheNYRBlog do u think he will get claimed and do u think they have a trade in the works
@charliegoal Teams covet toughness (other than NYR of course) so there's a chance he gets claimd. Looks like something's up tradewise.
if Miller plays make the 3rd line Miller-Newbury-Kreider. Then throw Boyle down to 4th line with Powe and Pyatt and scratch Asham
@TheNYRBlog If both Miller and Asham can go, I's sit Pyatt. Gives you a bottom six of Kreids-Newbury-Miller and Ash-Boyle-Powe
@TheNYRBlog no one would need to sit. With the halpern waiver claim, we still have 20 on the roster. With gilroy watching from the press box
@TheNYRBlog oh didn't think of that I was thinking the rangers had 11 forwards without miller in the lineup with the call up of newbury too
@TheNYRBlog yeah when I wad going over the list of forwards I forgot about pyatt. Guess that says a lot about what I think of him
@shawntaggs Still a good chance Miller plays. Newbury brings toughness, but Asham will be back as well. Pyatt could be odd man out.
""Miller said he left the ice today because it was hurting when he tried to shoot or pass and he couldn't get any snap or power on what he was trying to do.""
No panic... yet :)
Pretty sure Miller's injury, which is the same left wrist that he injured against the Panthers, had nothing to do with the collision with Hank. X-rays negative though
