No way Halpern was going to make it through the waiver process without being claimed, but sending Bickel back to Hartford was a long time coming. Can only send him to the press box so many times.
These transactions over the last two days have to make you think the Rangers have something stirring in the pot. Whether it's today or tomorrow or at the trade deadline 11 days from now, the Rangers need to make an aggressive set of moves in an effort to make the playoffs. Mediocrity and inconsistency with this roster as is, is simply unacceptable.

Who'd a thought going into this year their playoff hopes could possibly home on making a deal before the trade deadline? Sheesh
Let's see Sather at his best with the upcoming changes. Waiving Halpern and Bickel does not signal rebuild, but...
strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
So this is Bickel on waivers and not yet back to Hartford, huh? He could get claimed too ...
kinda bummed about losing Halpern -- especially to Montreal where he can hurt us. I thought Nash was going to be the big difference maker -- maybe he is, but the team around him has been so lacking. Dyin to see what, ultimately, Sather & Co. put together here. It better be well worth it.
Halpern must be thrilled. Signed a contract with an original 6 team he felt was a cup contender...going to end up one anyway...
@CtWhaleExaminer Teams are always interested in toughness. Other than the Rangers of course. lol
Bickel is the only guy on the team that can actually fight and stick up for team. Hope they have a plan
@TheNYRBlog good work. We have out own underachievers, why trade for someone else's? clowe reminder Cali needs to take care I himself
.@TheNYRBlog '94 is a good blueprint to follow. Wondering if they shouldn't have gone for broke last yr when they had a legit shot @ the Cup
@johnpal unfortunately Steve Ott is one of the only bright spots on a really bad Sabres roster. Wouldn't trade him.
If I was going to guess on any significant player that is out of here, it would be Gabby.
I just hope the young core stays intact. If we deal Stepan for Iginla or some kind of nonsense like that, I quit.
Something is cooking for sure. I thing a trade is coming. Hopefully a defenseman to help the PP and a forward who hammers people.
@TheNYRBlog Can't see any youth being traded. Hope Gabby stays, although I'm not convinced. Will any team take Richards...
@TheNYRBlog deadlin there will be 12 games or so left? if they wait past next 2 games its a move for next year
Don't worry, he will be gone soon. “@PATR2014: @TheNYRBlog correct ~~and to keep Gaborik...what a waste...move him out now!! ::))”
@Fixxser @PATR2014 @TheNYRBlog so do I have this right? Halpern and Bickel are both gone?
Must say, its quite weird to have a Rangers NHL blog come out with headlines with a baseball picture lol
