Fast Could Be A Ranger Next Week
Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that Rangers Swedish prospect Jesper Fast is awaiting release from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and could join the Rangers by the middle of next week.
As I posted yesterday, Fast's Swedish Elite League team has been eliminated from the playoffs so he is eligible to play for the Rangers.
The 21-year-old Fasth, who signed an entry-level contract with the Rangers last spring and does not have to clear waivers, finished this season with 18 goals and 17 assists in 47 games for HV71.
Rangers Director of Player Personnel Gordie Clark has said Fast is ready for the NHL.
...while I've expressed by concerns about Fast (or whatever the hell his name is), if Gordie Clark thinks he's ready for the NHL, who am I argue. I'd trust that guy with my first born.
...also, if Miller is going to miss an extended period of time, the need for Fast becomes that much more urgent.
...this team needs a jolt, so let's hope, if this report is true, they'll catch lightning in a bottle with this kid.

They are now sort of counting on deadline trades and unproven prospects to salvage this season. Didn't see that coming 'round October. Or January. Whatever.
This makes me happy. Does he play center at all? I hope they give him a good number for cripes sake.

I don't care how young or inexperienced they are, at least line of Kreider, Miller, and Fasth would bring some skill and excitement. Tired of watching guys make half assed pass attempts to keep themselves busy between turnovers.

Sucks about Miller hope Fasth can come in and make a difference, gotta get krieder playing even just as a 3rd liner to get his confidence built up again.

Torts will yell at him once and it will be all over. Hopefully, Hank and Cally take the kid under their wings. Wonder who he will room with?

The kid will make 1 mistake and Torts will bury him on the bench or send him down........Either we need a coaching change or Torts has to change the system.....with the talent we have on this team it's inexcusable that we can't score goals
