Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports the Rangers may seek to speak with Kings assistant John Stevens about their head coaching vacancy.
Stevens was the head coach in Philadelphia for 3+ years guiding them to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2007-08.
Brooks adds that the Canucks have shown interest in Stevens.
...Stevens is an interesting candidate. He had mixed results in Philadelphia with some very talented teams which included Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Danny Briere and Simon Gagne. But the experience is there and I'm sure he's learned a lot under Darryl Sutter the last two years which will serve him well going forward.
...in Los Angeles, Stevens is in charge of one of the best defensive units in the NHL and has been given credit for getting the most out of Doughty when no one else could and developing Voynov.
...a number of former Rangers, including Biron, Asham, Eminger and Powe played under Stevens, so I wonder what kind of input they may have in the decision.
...an interesting fact about Stevens is that his playing career came to an abrupt end when he was struck in the right eye by an errant puck and is still troubled by blurred vision as a result of the injury. Wonder if Staal would be intrigued by his candidacy.
For more insight on Stevens, check out this very detailed post at Canucks Army.
Brooks also reports that Alain Vigneault will meet with the Rangers during the club’s organizational meetings in La Quinta, Calif. today.
Stevens got a raw deal in Philly as far as I was concerned. That said, Stevens may be the second coming of Tom Renney.
I posted 12 days ago about my two choices for HC...Schoenfeld...or Stevens....
Man..I gotta get an Asst GM job with this club at some point..:)
My friend pulled a good one on us. While I was playing in my mens league game he texted us the The Rangers signed Mike Milbury as the new head coach. We thought it was real until this morning lol.
DZ and Boyle for Big Buff.... man I would do that in a heartbeat....
@Josh6 this isnt a video game. buff is a fat fuck that put eh weight back on DURING the season in winnipeg as the season went on. insane to sign him. he has been labeled untradeable because of it. insane.
@Josh6 you're slowly losing your mind. Trading DZ for Buff is like trading DZ for a bag of pucks in the long term. Buff is FAT as hell. Not huge like Lucic. Fat like... put the fork down and go for a bike ride you fat ass.
You can lose weight, you can't gain natural talent. Buff is exactly what we need at the point on our pp, but yea he does have to lose a couple
@Josh6 a couple? he's over 300lbs.
