John Moore recently spoke to Blueshirts United about the taking advantage of the opportunity he has in New York...
“It’s really refreshing going into the summer realizing that there’s a real opportunity here for me to grow my game. It’s going to make my approach to offseason training that much more intense. The onus falls on me to come in here and be in good shape, ready to go for camp.”
Moore also discussed the positive impact Dan Girardi and Ryan McDonagh have had on his game...
“For me to see those guys … and the way they prepare and their professionalism day in and day out away from the rink, that’s really priceless for someone like me to look up and see that.”
Meanwhile, another player in the Gaborik deal, Derrick Brassard, touches on the fresh start the trade offered him...
“I learned with the playoffs, it’s a grind. I learned about self-discipline and how hard I’m going to work this summer to be ready. I’m just really excited to be here. I think I can bring a lot” to the team.
...i'm still feeling down about how the season ended, but seeing quotes like this from two young guys who are expected to lead the Rangers franchise into the future has me pretty fired up.
...getting Moore as part of the package from Columbus, at least right now, was a steal. While he still has a lot to work on defensively, you can see the talent is there. With Del Zotto's future as a Ranger in doubt, Moore's continued development becomes that much more important.
...as far as Brassard goes, I'm absolutely in love with his passion. Before the trade deadline, the Rangers were void of any energy or heart, but the emotion he provided the line-up was infectious and the Rangers became a better team for it. Oh yeah, he's also got some skill to go along with that passion. Would love to see him get first crack at centering Nash next season.
Wow, Moore is really the opposite of MDZ:
"It’s going to make my approach to offseason training that much more intense. The onus falls on me to come in here and be in good shape, ready to go for camp.”
So essentially the Rangers traded Gaborik, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon, Delisle, Parlett, and a 1st for Nash, Brassard, Moore, Dorsett, Delisle, and a 3rd. Wow, just wow!
BTW, how many players get to get traded for themselves in less than a year. At least he always has that as his claim to fame!
So basically Moore is going to do everything the opposite of what Richards did in the offseason... some assistant captain he WAS. And I use "was" because he better be gone the 4th day after the Cup Final.
Also, for everyone who may have forgot, tune into game 2 of the Cup Final... that is when the Vezina is awarded... LETS GO HANK!!!
With Moore now on the roster, the Rangers might want to trade Del Zotto while teams will still take him.
Just some fodder on where Brassard was picked during the 2006 draft. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_NHL_Entry_Draft#Round_one
Could of kept gaborik should of kept gaborik was a dumb move. One of only 3 legit consistent 40 goal . I would of moved delzaster and miller bought out Richards
@gravey94 Looking at it, I think we got the better end of the deal. We got younger guys with more potential upside. I loved Dubi but he couldn't score, clearly Erixon was not as good as he was hyped up to be, and keeping Stepan was definitely the right move over anisimov...
I actually think that Del Zotto is going to have a great year this year. I think he was one of the players most affected by torts and a new coach with a more offensive game plan could be exactly what DZ needs. We know he has talent and I think that talent will come out this year.
@Wallace1 Big Buff... if he loses weight it is a steal and a half
@shoot_the_goalie Yea, and then have a second line of Clowe-Stepan-Horton... essentially would mirror the Bruins second line this year...
That line showed some real promise, I hope they get a chance to play together for awhile. I hope th enext coach doesn't change lines every other shift like the last one did.
i don't want Horton. He is injury prone, and will demand a lot of $$$. If Boston wins another cup, Horton will only play for money, and not to win.
@shoot_the_goalie and a 3rd line with Callahan-Lindberg-Hagelin... then Miller-Boyle-Dorsett on the 4th. That would be a balanced lineup
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG ugh. i saw that too and was thinking the same thing of course. instead we got "bob" sanguiinnettiiiy
@GLENsatherVSglennDANZIG At least it wasn't a Hugh Jessiman or Pavel Brendl draft year.
