#NYR expected to name Dan Lacroix as assistant coach today to complete Vigneault's staff. Former Ranger LW was ass't at TB last year.— Larry Brooks (@NYP_Brooksie) July 22, 2013
Lacroix, who was drafted by the Rangers in 1987 and played 30 games with them between 1993-96 (including four games during 1993-94 season), was best known for his physical style while playing for the Flyers from 1996-1998 (aka Legion of Doom years).
Lacroix was also an assistant coach with the Islanders under both Ted Nolan and Scott Gordon.
Vigneault has said the third assistant coach would not be on the bench but more of his eye in the sky during games.
...if nothing else, if this year's Rangers team lacks toughness AV could summon Lacroix from the press box to send a message to opponents.
...in all seriousness, while Lacroix is more known for his time with the Flyers, I do like that he has a link to the Rangers from his past.
Great - seems like a good choice however who will work with the power play? Can AV handle that one himself?
So remind me. who coaches the PP?
If their is still a cheap heavyweight out there then we need to sign him!
Tough teams will KILL us this year!
@Skunkman the guy from the BJ's and Canucks who hates Brassard and Nash.... two of our main PP guys... I still think that was a bad signing
@cb1 Hoping him and Samuelsson can toughen this team up!
hopefully this is a new start for everyone. I just hope that it doesn't start out ok and then Arniel falls bak into old tricks. I doubt it since viggy's the head coach and Arniel is only a pee on.
I agree. I'm just trying to be positive about it haha. he's the first out of all of our coaches to get fired.
Still the biggest concern this offseason so far - the bad history with Brass really worries me! I was really looking forward to a breakout year from him after such a good performance since the trade.
